Show nUVCIOLEY Mrs. Harriet Spendlove A sock and handkerchief party was held on Friday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Bishop Bish-op in honor of Cleone Talbot, who leaves in January for the Swedish mission. Games were played and refreshments refresh-ments enjoyed by Carol Crafts, El-ma El-ma Kaye Workman, Evelyn Bliss, Dale Bishop, Wallace Kernell, Mona Allred, Jeff Carter, Dale Little, Sheldon Western, Peggy Carter, Betty Hardy, Blaine Wilson, Berd-ell Berd-ell Memmott, Bill Conk, Calvin H. Skeem, Fred Skeem, Melvin Hep-worth, Hep-worth, Gale Stewart, Marie Stevens, Stev-ens, Lola Wright and the guest of honor, Cleone Talbot. Monday night the Hinckley 4-H boys held their annual election under the direction of the leader, Cluff Talbot. The following officers were elected: Mario Morris, president; presi-dent; Garry Webb, vice- president; Joe Nielson, secretary and treasurer; treasur-er; De Lyle and Gale Bennett, the song leaders; Monte Palmer, reporter. re-porter. After elections were held at this meeting each member registered register-ed and listed the type of livestock he would enter at the spring show in Delta. The Hinckley ward held its annual an-nual ward conference last Sunday night with Bishop Verdell Bishop presiding 1 and President Harold R. Morris conducting. The first speaker speak-er of the evening was Bishop Willis E. Dutson, a home missionary representing re-presenting the stake High Council. Mrs. Connie Webb, who was sustained sus-tained as secretary in the Primary as did newly appointed members (as did the newly ppointed members of the Elders Quorum, who are: Pearson Stewart, president; Loruv Talbot and Melvin Hepworth, the counselors. Byron Carter, representing represent-ing the choir, talked and President Morris gave a message to the congregation. con-gregation. The choir rendered some very lovely numbers. Singing that night were sixty voices 27 male and 33 female voices. Next Sunday the entire program is to be done by the choir under the direction of Ladd Cropper. They have been practicing for countless hours on special Christmas numbers num-bers and are prepared to give an out-of-the-ordinary musical treat. Jeff Carter and Cleone Talbot underwent appendectomies last Friday. William B. Pratt returned to his home on Tuesday of last week after aft-er having undergone ia major operation oper-ation in the Payson hospital. He is slowly improving at home now. Mr. and Mrs. Milo Bishop of Santa Monica, California, are now living in Hinckley, In the D. H. Mc- j Intosh home. Mrs. R. Swensen was a Provo visitor vis-itor on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Robinson spent several days of last week in Salt Lake City. Next Tuesday evening the MIA will present a special Christmas program, two one-act plays under the direction of Mrs. Betty Jane Morris. Pop corn balls will be served ser-ved to the crowd. The Christmas lights Ijave now added to the color of the season in town now. A large tree has been placed in front of the chapel and is lighted with colored globes. Other lights are located at the high school and on main street. This week an exclusive decorative scene will be placed on the chapel. Under the direction of D. A. All-red, All-red, "The Haunted House" was presented pre-sented to a houseful of appreciative apprecia-tive people. The cast had deftly interpreted in-terpreted the clever play, keeping the members of the audience in either suspense or laughter almost constantly. Yet a few dramatic situations sit-uations were brought well to a climax by the actors. Taking part in the play were: Dana Pratt and Valeda. Hilton, as newlyweds to come to the "Haunted House"; Ross Hilton, the eccentric author; An-gie An-gie Pratt, his wife; Clyde Stevens, the tramp; Blaine Wilson, the milkman; Dale Love, the town constable; con-stable; Lafe Nielson, the detective; Evelyn Bliss, the victim of the murder mur-der which did not exist; Blaine Robinson, owner of the house; and Fay Jacobson, the chauffeur. This year, as usual, Santa Claus, sponsored by the MIA, will visit each home in Hinckley on Christmas Christ-mas Eve. A contribution is being asked from each family so that this glorious tradition will be kept alive. These may be made at the Morris store or to Elaine Hardy or Sheldon Western, respective secretaries secre-taries of the YWMIA and YMMIA. Mrs. Wayne Petersen entertained the memjjers of the Rook Club last Thursday. Members present included: includ-ed: Ruth Talbot, Helen Shurtliff, Manon Robinson, Julia Bliss, Roma Ekins, Arvilla Swensen, Dolpha Bishop, Belva Morris, Bertha Love, Valeda Hilton, Lois Wilson, who won consolation prize; May Cropper, Crop-per, who won second prize; and Nina Mecham, winer of high score prize. Special guests included Dorothy Dor-othy Diehl, who won guest prize ! and Bina Ekins. Elva Webb has returned home from her 4-H trip to Chicago and has resumed her studies at the BAC, after her many glorious adventures ad-ventures connected with her recent honors. |
