Fil? of the Milford News of i 1 rii2l3' Fifteen years ago this week Petitions were being circulated 'asking that the followng names be placed on the ticket for town officers, to be voted on at the election, Xovember 3: For mayor, 0. F. Hubbell; for trustees, Jos. R. Murdock jr., Frank Farmer, L. G. Clay and George Litchfield. ! Milford had had every reason to be proud of one of her girls, Miss 1 Maxine Bardsley. Miss Bardsley, 1 who is the daughter of Mr. and : Mrs. Edward Bardsley, had made a most enviable record throughout her school career. She had won a scholarship from the Umvefrsity i of Utah to the University of Cali-: Cali-: fornia, where she had been chosen one of ten girls rated as the most brilliant students out of 800 fresh-. fresh-. men. ! The Milford high school had organized an orchestra under the instruction of Mrs. Parker. Following Fol-lowing were the players and in-! in-! struments: Fern Hickman, piano; Jack TurLety, drums; Howard Sherwood, cornet; Macel Rogers, ; violin; LaVon Bird, trombone; Harold Carlson, clarinet and Anna Chapman, Milton Hearn, Harold Bailey, Jack Hillary and Hannora Hutchings, saxophones. Dave Glenn, who was then a I brakeman on the Cedar-Lund branch, had been visiting his parents par-ents in Milford. There had been born, on October 12, to Mr. and Mrs. Earl Johnson, a fine 10-pound girl. Mrs. Karl Levi had entertained the Old Friends club, with Mr3. Abe Fotheringham receiving the high score prize at cards. Mrs. Jack Williams had entertained enter-tained the Saturday Afternoon Bridge club. A d.elicious luncheon was served and a pleasant afternoon after-noon ,of bridge was enjoyed with Mrs.- William Fernley reeive(ing high score for pojints and Mrs. C. C. Sloan for high honors. Mrs. D R. Roper and Miss Mary Roper had entertained a group of old friends in honor of Mrs. Wayne Banning, who was leaving for her home in Los Angeles. Those present were Mrs. T. Wlad-dingham, Wlad-dingham, Mrs. R. G. Siewert, Mrs. Geneva Patterson, Mrs. Joe Tri-bole, Tri-bole, Mrs. Charles Miller, Mrs. Myron Lewis, Mrs. Lee Gray, Mrs. Brown Bush, Mrs. Wayne Banning Ban-ning and Mrs. H. M. Korns. Mrs. W. C. Cates had entertained entertain-ed a few friends at a 7 o'clock dinner at her beautiful country home. Those present were Dr. and Mrs. Bybee, Miss Benita James, Art Dailey anl Walter Wteber. The P. H. C. club had held an unusually pleasant meeting at the home of Mrs. L. G. Clay. Prizes for "500" were awarded, to Mrs. J. C. Smith, Mrs C. H. Ford and Mrs. Myron Lewis. Mrs. Charles Parrish had entertained enter-tained for her sister, Miss May Kohler. Hearts was the card game for the evening. Those present pre-sent were Misses Edith Rowley, Barbara and Mildred Fotheringham, Fothering-ham, Bessie Killam, Louise Levi, Frances Ann Sloan, Lee Smithson, and Mrs. Kimmel Coon. |
