As a result of that experience I have come to the conclusion that most youngsters go wrong simply because they do not have the chores to do that most of us had when we were growing up. Paved streets and alleys are not very wholesome places in which youngsters can give vent to their abundant energies and their hunger for adventure. Mr. Tanner had been making his home in California. He was born Aug 8, 1869. at Ho'den, Millard County, to Ebenezer and Mary Ann Bigler Tanner. His early life was sp nt in Holden, and his first trip to Milford was with his father, in the fall of 1881, to sell a wagonload of apples. They made the trip by ox team with two yokes of oxen pulling the heavily loaded wagon over the mountains. It took six days to make the trip. In March. 1883. At 16 Mr. Tanner returned to Holden to attend school and look after his father's cattle. Returning to Milford, he was called to serve a mission for the L D S Church. In February 1894, he married Sarah Ann Richards in Greenville. Nine children were born to this union. Mrs. Tanner died in 1042 in Gardena, Calif. On Aug. 18, 1043, he married Mary Richards of Greenville. A freighter in his early days, Eb transported the first load of watpr pipe to Delamar, Nev., in 1893. He also hauled rails to Pioche in 1900. Later he moved to Beaver and in 1908 moved back to Milford, where he purchased the Main Street property of his father. He later sold the property on the East side of Ma'n street to Henry Jefferson, and other property, including the oldTanner Hotel. He moved to Reed, and later to South Milford, where he farmed and raised livestock. After the death of his second wife, in 1050, Mr. Tanner had made his home with his children in California, returning to Ml ford each year for an extended visit with his brother. Survivors include the following sons and daughters: Stanley, Wilford, and Clyd Tanner; Mrs. Thelma Keyte and Mrs. Irene Stanworth, all of Los Angeks, and Howard Tanner of Spillsbury Resort in Porter Valley, Calif.; two brothers, David A. Tanner of Milford and Abner Tanner of Provo; a sister, Mrs. F ora Winn of Preston, Idaho. Funeal services were hel Monday afternoon under direction of Bishop Dick Bank.
