RADIO SERVICE ' SEVENTn-DA- Car Radios Home Radios PHILCO-SUPERVISE- D i This year, enjoy the fun and satisfaction of making your own fruit cake. If you follow the recipe given here, easy step by easy step, the outeome will be a most ious-tasting and beautiful cake. It will be dark and really rich, thickly filled with such candied fruits as pineapple, cherries and citron . . . with plump raisins and the whole made currants, too fragrant with spices. The cake will be delicately moist as a dark fruit cake should that moist-nesbe and it sweet either. not is It overly The secret of all this lies in two Ingredients you probably never thought of as being part of a fruit cake. And, indeed, they never were before! Apple juice! And d apple sauce! The other fruits rest in the apple juice awhile, gathering its tang to themd selves. And the apple sauce further heightens flavor, insures lasting freshness. For apple juice and for ready-to-us- e apple sauce, only the finest of apples, picked at peak ripeness, are selected by manufacturers. Thar why apple juice, and the apple sauce that comes in cans and jars, have superb flavor, why they enhance the taste of this cake: delic- ... s. will-retai- ready-prepare- ready-prepare- Holiday Fruit Cake 1 lb. seedless raisins Vt lb. currants Mi lb. candied pineapple Mi lb. citron Mi lb. candied cherries Mi cup apple juice 3 cups sifted flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon salt 2 teaspoons cinnamon Mi teaspoon nutmeg Vi teaspoon allspice 6 eggs 1 cup butter or margarine 1 cup sugar 2 cups canned apple sauce Wash raisins and currants; dry.
