SEPTEMBER 14th REGISTRATION mrmm INJURED Hi 1953 AUTO ACCIDENTS Motor vehicles will claim at least two million Injured victims in 1953,. according to Thomas N. Boate, nationally known highway safety authority, and 1934 mtfy see that figure greatly exceeded if present upward trendspf injuries continue. , Mr. Boate, who is accident prevention department manager of the Association of Casualty and Surety Companies, declared today that some official estimates of the number of persons injured in automobile accidents are "completely unrealistic." They-- are based, he said, on theoretical ' ratios of approximately 35 persons injured for every person killed on the highways. Actually, he asserted, official reports of injuries in some states run from 75 to 125 persons injured for every person killed, and the national average is undoubtedly 50 to 55 hurt for everp fatality, rather than of 35 to 1.
