Show 9 Tuesday Is Election Day SbuHHa, Bui 0 Jtcana. 'I - Don't Forget to Vote HE ONLY NEWSPAPER IN THE WORLD THAT CARES ANYTHING ABOUT MILFORD Teen Talk By ALICE COOK and KAREN WALKER Most of the students enjoyed the Exchange ssemly presented by Cedar City High school on Wednesday, By SECOND-GUESSE- Seems this year we have very reluctant candidates for our city political posts. Getting information on their histories, etc., and getting the two groups together for a news photo was about as easy as getting Malen-koand Vishinsky to agree that Ike is a fine fellow. Hope after election the successful candidates aren't as hesitant about tackling some of the major city problems that need attention. So far as we can learn, Paul Wyatt bagged the biggest deer this season a 249 pounder. Ab Holm came close with a buck that tipped the beam four-poi- nt at 230 lbs. O Nancy Mellor celebrated her fifteenth birth day. The irirls present had a very enjoyable time and Nancy received many lovelv eifts. Those who helped her celebrate were Sharon Christensen, Alice Cook, Karen Walker, Ethel Cook, Janice Lynn. Sharon Kes- ler, Pat Gronning and Shirleen ' l &ingt Copy Seven Cento $3.00 dinner I turkey Tuesday by the Methodist Ladies, with the usual bazaar adding interest to the election day dinner. The ladies will begin serving at 12 noon, with children's portions selling at 75c and the regular full size adult turkey dinners going at $1.50. A wide variety of needly-woretc., will be offered in the bazaar. k, Had an interesting chat the other day with a former High instructor who decided a few years ago to pursue his talents in more lucrative pay fields. Seems now he really misses the school room, and the "personal satisfaction that means so much to a teacher and helps offset the low pay scale " misses seeing This the gids develop, watching as they change from eager, Idealistic youngsters into more sober and sincere students, noting the development of character, aptitude, ability to think, and helping prepare them for the responsibilities of citizenship. We hadn't thought ot it before, but there's a great deal in common between teachers and publishers not much pay for the hours put In, but a million bucks worth of personal satisfaction in trying ot do a good job in your own field. Mil-for- d . We have another new column in this week's News. Alice Cook and Karen Walker have joined our staff of contributors and will write a column of Teen Talk each week. We feel s and adults sure the alike will enjoy It , Teen-Kid- a Tear MILFORD (UTAH) NEWS THURSDAY. OCTOBER 29. 1953 VoL S3. CONDEMNS LIQUOR FOR SERVICE MEN Sharp criticism of the army's plan to permit sale of liquor on military posts was voiced today by Fred Cornforth, pastor of the Milford Seventh-daChurch. Ad-venti- st y Pastor Cornforth stated that the recent order by MaJ. Gen. William A. Bergin, adjutant general of the army, "will lower the prestige of American military forces both at home and He said also that Overseas." the sale of liquor on army posts will "contribute to lawlessness, immorality, and disorder." The Adventist pastor declared that "the time has coma for parents interested in the welfare of their sons and daughters serving in the army to take action." He stated he is asking members of his church and others to write their congressmen in protest of the order which he termed "a direct violation of the best Interests of the nation." Many of our students are hustling around tryng to find a way to go to Hurricane to see the Tigers last football game of the season. We hope that it will be a victory. High HALLOWEEN PARTY S D A PASTOR Voters will have a choice between two tickets, the Citizens Party and the .Independent Party, or if they don't like either of those candidates may write in a candidate of their choice.
