Show L.B.Waddingham j Dies Suddenly j Western Beaver county residents were immeasurably shocked and saddened the fore part of the week j by the sudden death of L. B. Wad- j dingham, 57, for 39 years a val- j ued employe of the Union Pacific j railroad. Only recently reunited with their eldest son, Lieutenant A. Thorpe Waddingham, after the latter's 13 months status as a prisoner of war in Germany, the family thus is again disrupted and bereaved. "Babe," as he was fondly known to hundreds of friends and acquaintances, ac-quaintances, died in the Milford hospital early Monday evening as a result of a recurrent heart attack. He had returned only a few days before from a visit in southern California with relatives and friends, made in conjunction with Mrs. Waddingham, their son, Lieutenant Waddingham, and daughter, Miss Jewell. The group had intended proceeding 0n to the bay area and Marysville but, when it was found impossible to get train passage without waiting at least five days, "Babe" didn't want to wait that long and came home, but insisted that the other members mem-bers of the family proceed with their trip. Mrs. Waddingham and Jewell were in Marysville when the sad word was imparted to them early Tuesday morning, while Thorpe was in a San Francisco Fran-cisco hospital receiving treatment for a throat infection. They ar- i rived home Wednesday, Thorpe, former 15th Air Force pilot, coming com-ing by air to Salt Lake City. Lindsay, second; son, also came by air from Buffalo, New York, where he. has been attending school as an aviation mechanic with the rank of private first class. Lindsay Bailey Waddingham was a native of Montana but had made his home in Milford the major part of his life, the family having moved to Salt Lake City when he was seven years of age, and later coming to Milford. He was a veteran of World War I, having served 18 months in France with a railroad unit. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen' and Enginemen, member and commander of Escalante Post 1546, Veterans of Foreign. Wars; and member and acting president of the Milfoi-d town board of trustees trus-tees during 1941 and 1942. Funeral services will be held in the Milford L. D.-S. chapel Sunday Sun-day afternoon at 2 o'clock and burial will take place the following follow-ing day in Salt Lake City, with further graveside services under the direction of members of Salt Lake City and other V. F. W. organizations. |
