Show THE SENTINEL Ronn Cowley 3k3 of Midvalewill run for council 534 E. Midvale, St., announced in August that he would be running for Midvale City council. He is presently serving on the Midvale Old Town Board and as president of the Old formed Town newly Merchants Club. He has also been active in his LDS ward in different capacities. Ronn is married to Ruth Christensen Cowley and they have seven children, with two still living at home - John, 11 years old and Scott, nine years old. Ronn is currently employed as the Framing Department manager of the Utah Artist Guild, 1988 S. 1100 E. in Salt Lake City. He and his wife own and operate "Old Towne Originals," an art, framing and handmade gift item shop, located in the Old Town historic area of Midvale. Ronn is running for city council because he has an enthusiastic love for the city of Midvale and he feels that he has the talents to rally the people of Midvale into action to revitalize the city once again. By working on city pride, beautification, redevelopment and economic progress he feels the city will bring a real sense of satisfaction and joy to all residents. "We need a city council that will stand shoulder to shoulder with every citizen of Midvale, regardless of who they are or where they live in Midvale. We live and work together so we must plan progress together, and go together wherever we want our city to go," Ronn states firmly. He loves his city and would like ' every person living in Midvale to have pride in their hometown. Not present is Charles McCurdy, kindergarten. The show, an annual event now in its fourth year, is a major draw for membership in the school PTA. Teachers also take the opportunity to explain the year's program with the visiting . parents. East Sandy's Country Fair is slated on Friday fining Speciafe The annual East Sandy Elementary Country Fair will be held Friday, Sept. 23, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. The school is located at 8295 S. 870 E. the activities Among scheduled will be a dunking machine, Moonwalk, a jumping house, a live gold fish toss booth, and more. The entertainment will be provided by the East Sandy Singers and talent drawn from the school's teaching staff. There will be a wide variety of edibles for sale including nachos, popcorn, candy, cotton candy, along with goodies at the baked goods booth and the exciting "cake walk." Chicken dinners will also be served at a cost of $2 each. Dinners must be between Sept. 19 and 21 before or after school. Each of the McGruff Safe house families have been thoroughly checked and screened by the police department. South Jordan's crime watch seems to be working. The police department hopes to have all of the neighborhoods city's contacted by Jan. 1 and all their crime watch areas in operation after the first of the year. Thursday, Sept. 22, 1983 South Jordan launches crime watch program South Jordan police announced the recent formation e of a neighborhood crime watch project. According to South Jordan Police Chief Duane Sutherland, in response to increased public interest, the department has been responding to requests from various civic and church groups to present their crime prevention awareness program. Chief Sutherland and Officer Ken Frank travel to different neighborhood meetings where they present information on home safety devices (locks), specifics on how to set up a crime watch neighborhood; along with films and visual aids on home safety. "We now have three subdivisions in the city that are operating and designated as crime watch areas," said Chief Sutherland. . Entry into these neighbor- hoods is marked by a brightly colored sign which reads "Crime Watch Area," which alerts those entering that "all will be suspicious actions immediately reported to the police department." "We have broken the city up into six quadrants and Sargeant Frank is in the process of identifying the areas and training the block captains," said Chief Sutherland.
