A federal grand jury returned the indictment after hearing evidence alleging that Smith made the threat in a letter and repeated it before two secret service men. Smith is serving time at El Reno reformatory for violation of the Dyer act He escaped from the Utah State Industrial School in Ogden in 1953, stole an automobile, and was arrested and convicted in California, was committed to the federal training school at Englewood, Colo., and transferred to El Reno. He would have been eligible for parole next September, but now r faces a possible additional sentence. Smith's record shows he has served time almost continuously in reform schools since he was 14. He acquired a police record in five-yea- his family lived Michigan there, and after coming to Utah in 1951 was arrested by Midvale police for several minor offenses, in when cluding theft. On Monday at 2 p.m., Feb. 28. a bus will leave city hall in Midvale for a tour of the hospital The tour is being conducted to acquaint people of this area with the work of the hospital in rehabilitating men so they can return to a good life outside.
