Show THE MIDVALE (Utah) SENTINEL Page Seven with a three day season in Grand, 1954 Morgan, Summitt, Wayne, and Washington. In Washington County an additional three day hunt was scheduled for Dec. 3, 4, and 5 when field reports showed an exceptionally good crop of birds in the county Friday. Sent. 17. this year. Scheduling regulations covering two game bird seasons and the fall trapping season were chief orders of business as the Utah Fish and Game Commission met Sept. 13 in quarterly session at department offices in Salt Lake City. A general three day shoot was set for the annual fall pheasant season, with a longer hunt in ten of the better counties. There will be no open season in San Juan and Rich counties. Following a study of field surveys showing a heavy crop of birds this year the following counties were opened to five days of hunting: Cache, Boxelder, Weber, Davis, Salt Lake, Utah, Duchesne, Uintah, and Emery. A seven day season was schedul ed for Millard County as a management experiment to determine effects of a longer shoot Checking stations will be set up covering this county along with several additional wardens on hand in the fields during the latter days of this longer season. Only cock birds will be legal game. Daily bag limit is three; possession limit after the first day is six. Opening day of the pheasant season was set earlier in the year as 8 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 6. The Commission set a quail season in eight counties to run con- currently with the pheasant sea- son in those counties. This means five days of quail shooting in Salt Lake, Uintah and Utah counties Daily bag limit for quail is eight birds; possession limit 16. The Commission last month set Friday noon, Oct. 8, as the opening day of the migratory waterfowl season. The 80 day shoot will run through Dec. 26. Final regulations now scheduled include the continued restricted use of airthrust boats for duck and goose hunting this fall. New this year is the requirement that all owners of such boats must register them with the Department of Fish and Game. The assigned license number must then be written in one foot letters on the boat for identificiation purposes. Launching lanes were allowed into restricted hunting areas from Syracuse and Farmington Bay. All Great Salt Lake marshes north of the Lucin cutoff will be open to air boat traffic. As in past recent seasons the balance of the state remains closed to the use of during the fall season.
