Public interest in the selection of officials has reached a new low point. This is an alarming situation, which shows that the citizens are losing interest in the affairs 'of their local government. This Cjln be partly explained by the • !act that the primary system of it election is unsatisfactory; does not bring out sufficient candidates. Also, mud-slinging actics employed here during former elections keep many well qualified men from seeking public office. No one with any selfrespect wishes to put himself up rt:: as a target for vicious attacks by opposing groups. Citizens of Midvale: the time l ~'bas come to wake up and draft some good men for office, who ,;- wiU, when elected;-work for the city manager form of municipal gove~nment, or at least abolish this primary system in favor of the party convention plan.
