U. )', SCHEDULES MEETING Glover Camp, Daughters of Utah Pioneers, will hold their annual meeting Thursday, Feb 21, at 2 p m, in the Midvale city hall. The lesson, ' 4History of Utah and Its Founders As Told by Manuscript," will be given by Mrs Florence Sjoblom. Hostesses will be Dora Hall, Marie Phelps and Eddly Jenkins. All members are urged to attend. Howara Barrows, Midvale Sentinel publisher and president of the Utah State Press association, was the spea}5er at a meeting of the Jordan high school press club, Wedne{day afternoon, discussing the service and responsibilities of the weekly newspapers. A forum was participated in by the students at the close of the meeting. Arthur Eskelsen, agricultural superintendent of the West Jordan sugar factory, is attending a sugar meeting in Denver, Colo, this week. Fl5 RELEASED COUNSELLOR HONORED BY SOCIETY Mrs Eudora Bateman, released counselor of West Jordan Relief Society, was honored Tuesday afternoon at a social held in connection with the work meet· ing. The program was in charge of Mrs Clara Richards, who succeeded Mrs Bateman. Program numbers were furnished by Mrs Whitney McAllister, Mrs Goldie Pearson, Mrs Lois Rasmussen, Mrs Laura Jensen, Mrs Frances Mae, and Mrs Bessie Bateman. Mrs Edna C Hogan, president of the organization, paid a fine tribute to Mrs Bateman for the services she rendered during her term o.f office, and presented her with a gift. Following the completion of 2 quilts, refreshments were served to 45 members and guests by Marinda Dimond, Clara Richards and Ruth Barben. assisted by members of the Relief So· ciety. The program was in connection with the valentine program for the day. -The P-TA and room mothers, under the dircetion of Minnie McMullin and Dorothy Newbold sponsored a movie and refresh· ments for the boys and girls. This was followed by a valentine program in the various rooms. Students spent a great deal of time making valentines for the occasion, said George Barton, principal. Mr & Mrs Andrew Cooley of Salt Lake visited Mr & Mrs Henry W Cooley Friday. A fire broke out in the attic of the L M Christensen home early Saturday evening. Mr & Mrs Melvin Thompson, occupants of the home carried water and kept the flames down until the fire dept. appeared. They succeeded in checking the fire so that the damage was only part of the roof. Origin of the fire was traced to defective wiring. Miss La Wana Egbert came home Friday from Boise. Idaho, where she is employed as a government construction worker. She has a 30 day leave. Bruce Egbert, son of Mr & Mrs Wilford E Egbert, had an attack of appendicitus Sunday evening. Mrs Marie Shulsen visited her mother, Mrs Minnie E Roberts, who is now stayihg with another daughter. Mrs Roberts is 83 years of age and has been quite ill for some time. Mr & Mrs Oney Smith and son, Mr & Mrs La Mont Smith and their family and Mr & Mrs Charles Steadman were visitors of Mr & Mrs William H Stead- man Sunday. Mr Steadman returned from the hospital recently and is slowly recovering his strength. The High Priests committee met at the home of Mrt & Mrs Henry W Cooley on Thursday evening.
