We Most Certainly Do! • • • BUT We don't want a "Water District" that does NOT assure us of ever getting more water! DO YOU? We don't want a ''Water District" that will force us to pay heavy, extra, water taxes for the benefit of others! DO YOU? We don't want a "Water District" that will have greater taxing power than the county government itself! DO YOU? THE PROPOSED ..WATER DISTRICT" IS A TAX ON YOU! -a tax from which you may receive NO benefit I 1. Under the proposed plan, all property in Salt Lake County, outside the limits of Salt Lake City, could be . forced to pay substantial extra or additional taxes, even property now having sufficient culinary water or property not needing water. 2. Under the proposed plan, you as a property owner could and probably would be assessed to pay the expense of creating the "Water District" and for ar• ranging to acquire and distribute water. (Several · thousand dollars have already been spent.) Not just one assessment could be levied against you, but many -perpetually. 3. Under the proposed plan, those in control of the · political, quasi-municipal "Water District" could sell bonds to purchase water, construct a system, pay offi. cers, lawyers, engineers, etc., and the cost would be a lien against your property. 4. Under this proposed plan, and with no water furuished to you, but merely distributed "from the works" to on.; Ot' more users, you could be assessed $7.50 each . and every year per $5000 valuation of your property, in addition to state, county, school, sales, federal income, state income and other state and federal taxe~ now in effect, and those to come. This tax would be in addition to prior assessments for the creation of the "District." 5. Under this proposed plan, YOU HAVE NO ASSURANCE THAT YOU WILL EVER RECEIVE WATER, even though you are taxed as above. If you do receive water, the law provides for special assessments against property within municipalities, irrigation distriCts and lands for which water is allotted, in additon to the above general assessments. You could be forced to pay for water NOT delivered to your property, but benefiting only property of others. 6. Under this proposed plan, the "Water District" directors would have greater taxing power than the County Government itself. That means power to assess and tax your property, even though you never receive water. TO PROTECT YOURSELF- YOU MUST ACT NOW! This '~Water District" will be created by Court order unless sufficient property owners protest immediate!y! The law provides there shall be no appeal once the "District" is created. Don't take chances! Sign the protest petitions mailed to you. Also urge your neighbors and friends to do likewise. But do it TODAY-help avoid being forced to pay burdensome taxes year after year for the benefit of others! Property Owners Committee opposed to unfair Salt Lake County Water District Taxes J. R.
