Olson, Reporter) Delos Gardner of Tucson, Arizona visited with his sister, Miss Laura Gardner, during the week. Mrs. Laura E. Finlayson, accompanied by her granddaughter, :Mary Hibbard, of California, left Monday for Piute, California, where Mrs. Finlayson will visit indefinit ely with various members of her family. Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Bateman returned on Wednesday of last week 'from a 4-day visit with Mr. and :Mrs. LaMar Burkinshaw at Bond, Colorado. Mrs. Fred Burmeister Jr. and two children returned during the week from a visit with relatives in California. Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Stark and two daughters, Jeanette and Kathleen, have returned to their home in San Francisco after spending three weeks visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Closner and Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Leak. Mrs. Stark was formerly Miss Marie Halvorsen of West Jordan. Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Beckstead visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Paul McCune in Salt Lake City and other relatives on Sunday. Arnold Butterfield returned recently from his mission. He and Mrs. Butterfield are making their home in Salt Lake City. Miss lla Olson has been confined to her bed for the past week with a form of rheumatism which seems to be going around, according to the attending physician. She is much improved. Willis Goodridge visited friends at Ogden Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Christensen visited their daughter, Doris, and Mrs. D. R. Bateman visited her son, John, at America..n Fork on Sunday. Fourteen members of the Beautification club went on the garden tour Sunday morning receiving much inspiration and many valuable ideas on how to improve their o·wn gardens. he gospel message Sunday school class had a Scavanger hunt Friday evening of last week. O'Brien in Sandy Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Bateman and son, Glen and Mr. and Mrs. .J. C. R:ichards and baby, Dorene, were Ogden visitors Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Grey M. Lusty of Los Angeles are rejoicing over the birth of a baby daughter. Mr. Lusty was a former coach of the West Jordan junior high school. Miss Berle Larson, a school teacher of Midvale, spent the week end with Mrsj. Arthur Richardson. Born, September 27, a son, to Mr. and Mrs. Sterling Nordstrom. Mrs. Nordstrom will be remembered as Miss Ann Barzen. Bishop and Mrs. R. S. Hawkins were honor guests at a dinner, given Wednesday evening a.t the home of their daughter, Mrs. Elbert G. Despain. The occasion was in compliment to the wedding anniversary of the Hawkinses. Complimentary to his seventyfifth birthday anniversary, L. E. Despain was honor guest at a dinner party given at the J. W. Wimmer home in Salt Lake City Thursday evening, September 28. Covers were laid for the immediate family, including Mrs. Despain, their children and grandchildren. After 3 years Mrs. R. S. Hawkins of Granite and Mrs. Josephine M. Jorgenson of Ephraim met again for the first time to renew old acquaintances and to enjoy the day in reminiscence. Wednesday Afternoon they were luncheon guests of Mrs. S. Peter Petersen. Mrs Jorgenson lived for some time at the L. G. Hardy residence, former home of Mrs. Hawkins in Salt Lake over forty years ago. She is the stepmother of Mrs. Petersen. Mrs. Don M. Rees, daughter of Mrs. Jorgenson and young son, Richard, of Salt Lake City also were guests. Ten members of the "Trail Builders" class of the Granite ward Primary enjoyed a canyon trip .and camp-fire supper Friday evemng of last week. They were accompanied by President Florence Fletter.
