This is the first week's enrollment, and it i::. believed that the total will be increased somewhat by the end of this week. Last year's enrollment was 5670 students. The enrollment by schools is given herewith: Bingham Central, 316; Butler, 61; Copperton, 118; Crescent, 40; Draper, 462; Granite, 44; Herriman, 55; Highland Boy, 67; Lark, 81; Midvale, 676; Riverton, 452; Sandy, 599; South Jordan, 114; Union, 487; Upper Bingham, 136; West Jordan 447; Bingham high, 594; Jordan high, 913-total, 5662. f Announcement was made this week by C. J. Welch, owner and manager of the Welch Planing Mill, that he will be a candidate for mayor in the Midvale city election this fall. "Joe" Welch, as he is called by his friends, has spent over 12 years in public office. For six years he was mayor of Cowley, Wyoming, and prior to that was a councilman in the same city. He has resided in Midvale for the past eight years, where he is an extenslve property owner and taxpayer. His planing mill ht!re is one of the largest and best equipped in the state. "Midvale is the best place in the world in which to live," Mr. Welch said. We believe that the Iris sound equipment and the screen are the equal of any in the city. We commend Mr. Stringham for his efforts to give us good entertainment. Midvale's new city building will be occupied by city offices on October 1, .it was announced this week by Mayor J. Hollis Aylett.
