Show . ' WHITE WAY'' CEL __ Vol. 3 No. 22 .. N WILL BE .HELD ~N IDVAlE FRmAY, M.idvale, Thursday, November 3, 1927 National Guardsmen LOCAL PEOPLE Re~dy NOVE~' Utah's Most Popular \V.eekly R~ to Defend New York LAD TO IN ACCIDENT. • Mr. a,pd Mrs. C. 0. Watson, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Matthews, met with what might have been a serious accident o.n the return trip from the Old Mill Club Monday evening. Driving West on Union Avenue, Mr. Watson failed to observe State Street and was u.n able to turn and the car was turned over and badly damaged. No one was seriously injured although all were bruised up somewhat, The Famous Advertisement appears elsewhere in this issue and states something about keeping your car in the garage while weari.ng Florsheim shoes. Very timely, indeed. The contractors installing the new "White "\Vay" completed their work Wednesday and after testing out the circuit, turned the system over tp the City. The lamps were tested late Wednesday evening. !E ARE All PUFFED UP ·NOW The following communication was received at the Journal office this week. It comes unsolicited and from a party unkno'W)l to us. It appears from reading this interesting letter that people in distant lands appreciate the Midvale Journal more than the home folks do. What do you think? November 1, 1927. Midvale Journal, Midvale, Utah. Since placing some advertising in your most excellent weekly a short time ago, your advertising • department has favored my firm, Perkins Products Company, with an 4 'exeha, nge'' copy each week and I have found it intensely interesti'n.~. I sincerely hope that your readers fully appreciate the e.nterprlse 7 you are exhibiting in the field of Journalism and the progressiveness shown in the change in size and style, particularly. This tabloid make-up is identically what I have had in mind for the ".next newspaper" which I publish, as, hav ing been born and raised in the atmosphere of printers' ink, it is inevitable that I should return to the editorial tripod and Porte,s (["ypographical "Bibile." I greatly admire your picture front cover page and the artistic heading used. The Penney ad is a notaJble example of good workmanship and I will say from my experience in the game that your town will be a bigger and better place in which to live, for their having established one of their stores i.n your city. It is not com- i petition for your local stores, but a great force which will co-operate with them in the expansion of Midvale's trade territory, for the common benefit of all-themselves included only as are the rest and not overlooking the newspaper man. From all I have read i.n your JOURNAL a1bout Midvale, it impresses we just well enough that I should say, if I were permitted to offer a suggestion for your slogan, that you adopt this: "The Kind of a Town of Which Others Dream." or ''hTe Ideal Town You've Been Looking For." Respectfully submitted, Lee A. Richmond, Hastings, N ebrask:a. YOu SHOULD INVESTIGATE! Mr. M. J. Bishop, is now maintaining an office at 4893 South State St., in Murray, Utah. He is giving free treatments daily by the magnetic health applia, nce method. Anyone suffering from any. disease will incur no obligation by investigating Mr. Bishop's treatments. Many local testimonials are available at his office. His residence phone is Mid. 183.
