Such is ' .d N~ We hear a great deal about the tendency of the younger generatio,n to leave the farms and ranches for the cities and metropolitan centers. This is a serious qustion and one worthy of thought, but it would seem that in practically every era the same problem has confronted agriculture and a,nimal husbandry. In the writings of Abraham Cowley, early in the seventeenth century, it is pointed out that the trend of the young people was from the rural districts to the cities and this situation seems to have co,ntinued down through four hundred years following Cowley's time. W. and if husbandmen preserve hot that, they are much to blame, for no class is so free from temptations of iniquity." In looking back to the time of the Cowley writings it is observed that while during each generation the prob lem of keeping the younger people ~n the pursuits of agriculture has arisen, still during all of this time there has never been a period when there was not ample personnel available to carry on agriculture and animal husbandry. No doubt, such a tim.e never will come, as it is' simply a case of each ge,neration distributing itself into the walks of life to which each individual is best. fitted. A great deal has been said of the trend of population from the farms to the city but we hear very little of the Midvale, altho temporarily on vacation, nevertheless played ball Sunday at Midvale ag-ainst Mag.na. An entire bagful of pitchers were used but the Magna .oluggers just hit the pill at will, and eighteen markers we~ ta!Ecrl up against Midvale while thP locals succeeded in getting c·nly 4 men acn1ss the platter. Tn view of the heavy hitting of the ;\fagnaites, ::'.lidYale was sorely in }'leed of a fast outfieltl. This need did not culminate and consequently when the bases were filled, along came the home run hitters and cleaned the bases. TntereRt in the games continues and the dope is, that whc.n Midvale does get balanced and turn,;, vengeance will be no name for the results. Midvale showed flashes a fast pia · in Sunday'ci game, with three double killings, but on tlw whole was not quite up to stanclar~. Twisdale turned in a remarkable record at shortstop with eight clea.nly fielded chances Bonnell wa;; the hitting star of the day with three safe ones in four times up, one of them a home run.
