Just every-day stuff for the tanker "Trimountain ," and her skipper. The skipper-histo ry recordeth not his name--is no hero. He would be the first to discla'm the distinction. He's just a seaman, doing his regular stuff, as they do who go down to the sea in ships. He gets his cargo, from the slip, or with cargo hoist from a lighter, and sets sail, when his papers are delivered. The weather? The weather is what he finds it. He has not the control of it that the happier railroads have. Only the God of storms as they blow can decide that. His it is to "carry on." He has his capital wrapped up in the confidence he has in his community. He sinks or swims as the community approves or disapproves. As it is loyal and neighborly or disinterested. He can not-and makes no effort to--compel his neighbors to buy. Business-lik e the weather-is good or bad, as his neighbors make it. The merchants in this community are citizens, as well as merchants of South Salt Lake County, Utah. They accept their share of responsibility and expense of government. They have their personal preferences. Their problems are as personal and real as any other individual's. And every individual in the community who owns as little as a $10 Ford should be interested in the welfare of his community, if not from home pride, from the standpoint of selfish interest. Every dollar spent in the community comes sooner or later, right back to the first spender. Often makes several calls upon him. If you don't believe it, try marking a dollar, and spending it here. all The merchant in any city or town is in much the same position as the skipper of the "Trimountain .'' His cargo-his stock-he has brought from the four corners of the world in prideful assembly for the approval of his townspeople. aboard the Good Ship "Jordan Valley." If We're the weather is fine, all well and good. If it is stormy if we have any of the old-fashioned stuff of which pioneers were made, we'll plow through just the same. TRADE AT HOME! There's a MORAL in the tons of parcels in the postoffice from the mail order house. A dollar buys more when you buy at the Store. He has studied their tastes and prefE'rences, if he is a good merchant, and is anxious to please with his wares.
