Show Midvale JUNIOR HIGH-LITE OPERA SELECTED Mr. Lee Master, music director, bas selected "Melinka of Astrakan" for the annual operetta this year. It is Russian in character .a.nd setting, mllitary in style, and is a comparatively new and little'known operetta. Tryouts are underway now for the selection of the principals. There is to be a ])rincipal and an understudy for This will give more ~ach part. to participate in the solo parts. In addition to the solo parts, there will be a Cossack soldier "Chorus, soldierette chorus, Ameri"Can girls, and Russian peasant chorus. The school orchestra will accompany the opera. The libretto is under the direction of Mr. Sanderson, and Mr. Lee Master will direct the choruses and orchestra. The prospects for a successful ~peretta are very good as. several students who carried the leads last year are here with us this year. The date of presentation .has not yet been decided. YELL MASTERS GET NEW COSTUMES The yell masters of the Midvale .Junior High have been working very hard to get some good, snapPY yells, and they have succeeded. Our yell masters, as you should know, are Ernest Harper, Shirley Jensen, and Genevieve Clayton. The new costwnes are very flashy, consisting of trousers and blouses made of the school colors, red and white. They lead the student body in peppy yells at Thursday basket ball games. -MARY MUTCH JUNIOR TRAFFIC POLICE The JunlorTraffic Squad of the junior high have been doing some splendid work during the noon hour and the change of classes. They have formulated some new laws a.nd they are asking the student body to cooperate vnth them in upholding these laws. The members of the squad are as follows: Captain, Farrell Pugmire; Lieut enant, Willis Sharp, Jesse Dokas, Jack Fanner, John Spinder, and Earl Greenwood. They are sponsored by Mr. C. W. Barton, Mr. Aaron Horne, and Principal E. E. Greenwood. -JOHN GRAY. During the last year a studentbody council has been organized in the Midvale Junior High school. The representatives of this council consist of the president and two elected delegates from each class. The council was formed to take care of the activities in the school. Laws have been passed for the betterment of the school, and these laws are obeyed and carried out by the students. Meetings are held every Friday at 2:30 p. m. The school student body officers preside and take charge of all business. Minutes of every meeting are kept by the secretary. These minutes are then handed to Mr. Greenwood, Principal, for approval. The projects will be on display in the library room, which is No. 10 on the top floor. Everyone is welcome to come to see the exhibits and also to take books from the library. The basketball team of the Midvale Junior High has been eliminating those players who have not shown an excellent record so as to give the first and second teams greater opportunity for practice. In the .Jordan district junior league the Midvale boys have won two games and lost one. They are showing good cooperation in passing, shooting, dribbling, and pitching which are the most important fundamentals of basketball.
