Girls, gobs and gags ga- • Midvale Journal, Thursday, May 1,1930 Mrs. Albert Olsen entertained at a dinner party Sunday afternoon in honor ot her husband and brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Vere Gardner, it being their birthday anniversaries Saturday. Dinner was served at one long table which was decorated In pink, green and yellow, with yellow and pink sweet peas in greenholders. A large birthday cake In harmonizing colors were used as a centerpiece. Covers were laid for fourteen guests. The regular Relief society meeting Tuesday afternoon was held as a social and demonstration by the Utah Power and Light company, which gave recipes for cooking and also demollBtrated several dishes which were given as prizes. Mrs. Harriet Jacobson, Mrs. Albert Dimond and .Mrs. Goldie Pearson won the prizes. The West Jordan school will hold its yearly May Day exercises at the West Jordan school grounds, Friday. Little Ruth Bateman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Bateman, is still in the general hospital, where she has spent the last two months suffering from after effects of scarlet fever. Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Tripp and chilr dren of Murray, Mr. and Mrs. LaVell Silcox of Lark, Mrs. Lynn Farrel of Riverton, Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Miller and children of Salt Lake were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Silcox, Sunday. Word has been received here of a daughter born to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Burton of Evanston, Wyo. Mrs. Burton was formerly Miss Violet Steadman of this ward. Mrs. Carrie Margetts, Mrs. Lester Margetts and Miss Pearl Margetts at tended a social Thursday in honor of Mrs. Clarence Margetts of Murray. Miss Gwen Silcox spent Monday and Tuesday visiting friends in Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Rose and sons, Gene and Jack, and Miss Rose Steadman motored to Centerville and were guests of Mr. and ~rs. Sid Rose one day last week . Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Margetts of Murray were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ren Margetts, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Hunsaker and children of Murray are spending the week with Mr. and Mrs. John Yates. Miss Rose tSeadman has returned home from McGill and Ely, Nev., where she spent two months visiting with relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Heber Hand of Salt Lake spent Thursday visiting Mr. and Mrs. Axel Lundquist. Mr. and Mrs. Orion Newbold and daughter, Rhea, ot South Jordan, were guests of Mrs. Rosa Bateman, Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. .John Stea.dman of Magna have moved to West Jordan to make their home. Mrs. AI Rose and Miss Rose Steadman were dinner guests ot Mrs. Tho~a.s Steadman, Wednesday ot last week. Mrs. George Henderson, assisted by Mrs. C. E. Hogan and Miss Evelyn Palmer, entertained at a party at Liberty park Saturday afternoon in honor of her daughter Donna's twelfth bit:thday anniversary. Luncheon was served on one long table which was cleverly decorated In pink and white with a pretty birthday cake forming the centerpiece. Covers were laid for Glen Sellers, Woodrow Parker, Florence and Beverly Garside of Salt Lake, Donna and Fay Henderson, Phyllis Sabey, Leah Trane, Bertha Bateman, Marquita Burgon, Mary Russel, Ned Chestnut, Lynn Richardson, Byron Loveall, Quenton Shulsen, Loyal Blackett. The Primary officers and teachers surprised their retiring president, Mrs. Albert Olsen, at her home Monday night. Progressive games were played, prizes going to Mary Dahl, Mrs. Charles Dimond, Mrs. Albert Dimond, Olwe Leak and Mrs. Louis Nelson. A two-course luncheon was served to Mrs. Albert Olsen, Mrs. Arthur Jensen, Mrs. Zelia Holt, Mrs. Eva Turpin, Olive Leak, Mary Dahl, Mrs. Ethel Dimond, Mrs. Goldie Pearson, Mrs. Tony Brown, Mrs. Louis Nelson, Mrs. Leonard Steadman, Mrs. Donald Hogan, .Jr., Mrs. Alonzo Buckley, Mrs. Arthur Peterson, Mrs. Narvil Wardle, Grace Malmstrom, Thelma Dimond, Mrs. Parley Spratling, Mrs. Rose Morris, Mrs. M. Miss Emma Gardner was toastmistress. Responses were given by several mothers and girls. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Bateman and Mrs. Lydia Bateman attended the funeral services of Mrs. Jane Jensen at Draper, Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Jensen is the mother of Mrs. Orlo Bateman,- formerly of this ward. A sad feature of the death was just a week previous her grandson, Kenneth Simons, 16 years old, died at the Dee hospital in Ogden with spinal meningitis. This is the fourth death in the ~amily in fourteen months. Mr. and Mrs. Rupert Silcox and family of Magna spent three days here visiting with relatives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hartson and baby of Salt Lake were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Steadman, Sunday.
