Show The Midvale Journal, Thursday, December 19, 1929 l · Monday evening at their residence on East First avenue, Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Horne entertained members of their club. There were five special guests. Bridge was the feature of the entertainment. The prizes were won by Mrs. L. Fern Pett and George W. Cox. A lighted Christmas tree and other decorations of the season were used in the rooms. At her home on First a\·enue, Mrs. C. 0. Watson entertained Tuesday evening. Bridge was played at three tables. The decorations and favors were in red and green and holly and evergreens were used in the rooms. This is the second of a series of parties planned by Mrs. Watson. Fred Spindar, who suffered a severe and painful accident last week at the repair shops of the D. & R. G. railroad company when a car wheel passed over his heel, is at a Salt Lake hospital and unless unforseen compli- cations arise will soon be on the road to recovery. Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Williams are rejoicing over the arrival of an eightpound baby boy, December 18. Mrs. Williams and baby are at the Miller maternity home and are reported as doing nicely. Lieutenant and Mrs. E. L. Fernsten left last wcoek to return to Denver, Colo. ,after spending several months with Mr. Fernsten's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Fernsten. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Hamlin and children left this week for their old home in Marysvale. Mr. Hamlin had the misfortune to meet with a serious automobile accident last summer which resulted in the loss of both lower limbs. He is now recovered and gets about in a wheel chair. The family formerly lived in Marysvale and are returning there in time for the Christmas holidays . Mr. and Mrs. LaVon Fox joined a party of friends and all spent Tuesday at Magna at the home of C. J. Long. The guests included besides Mr. and Mrs. Fox, Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Van, Mr. and Mrs. Ned Corless, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Johnson of Salt Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Jensen, Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Ohwiler of West Jordan, Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Long of Garfield and Roy Nordberg of Magna. Mrs. Albert Watson was hostess to members of her card club Thursday evening at her home on First avenue. Mr. and Mrs. D. R. Boberg of Draper visited at the home of Mrs. R. W. Stokes Tuesday evening. Mrs. R. Ray entertained at a children's party Monday afternoon for her small daughter, Beulah, on her eighth anniversary. Games and refreshments were enjoyed by the small guests. Relatives of Mrs. D. M. Todd, Jr., to the number of thirteen surprised her Friday evening of last week on the occasion of her birthday anniversary. The guests included her mother, Mrs. A. J. Burton, and brothers and sisters of Salt Lake. Flying Cadet Harlow B. Grow, U. S. A. C., is at home for the holidays from March Field, Riverside, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. N.J. Hansen of Preston, Idaho, and M. L. Snow of Bingham, Utah, have been visitors at the Leroy Eskelson home. G. W. Thompson of Idaho Falls has been visiting with Mrs. Odvin Rosquist and T. C. Thompson. PRIMARY ASSOCIATION HAS "SQUAWKIN' SQUAD" Ever hear the 'Squawkin' Squad?" If you haven't, you should. They are a group of the cutest little lads you'd see in forty states. They come from the Second ward Primary association and are trained to sing a clever parody on "Singin' in the Rain," "Utah Trail," "Star of the King." They not only sang at the recent bazaar held in the Second ward, but were taken to Crescent and sang at an entertainment there. W. Wadleigh and children in the loss of their husband and father, D,.)vight W. Wadleigh. The family lived here for some time before moving to Salt Lake. Mr. Wadleigh died Frida , following a short illness of pneumonia. The funeral services were held Tuesday at 1 o'clock in the Phillips Congregational church, 477 Seventh East street, and a large number from Midvale were in attendance. Interment was in the Midvale cemetery. Mr. Wadleigh was a mining engineer and was employed in Bingham. Surviving are the widow, Alice Bush Wadleigh, and four children, Dwight, Jr., Arthur, Donald and Margaret Y:adleigh; his parents in Westcliffe, Colo. ; one brother and three si ers.
