Dinner will be served to the old folks and a box lunch to the members of the ward at 12 noon. Mr. and Mrs. James A. Bateman entertained at dinner Sunday in honor of the wedding anniversary of their son and daughter-in-law1 Mr. and Mrs. Earl P. Bateman. The marriage of Miss Signe Nilsson of Salt Lake to Clarence Pearson of this wa.rd has been announced. Mr. and Mrs. P. T. Bateman enter- tlined at dinner Sunday for Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Barrett of Union, Miss Agnes Wllson. Mr. and Mrs. Royal Spratling of Salt Lake, Mrs. Wanda Pratt and children of Murray. .. Miss Roberta Trane entertained at cUnner Sunday in compliment to Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Hansen and daughter, Beverly, and Mr. Joe Antczak of Butlerville. Miss Evelyn Bird entertained at her home Monday night of this week in honor of the birthday anniversaries of Miss Afton Gardner, Miss Roberta Tra.ne Miss Florence Richardson and Miss Virginia Bateman whose birth· days come in February. Dinner was served on one long table which had a large birthday cake a.s centerpiece and tall red candles in holders at each end, the room was beautiful in its decorations of red, white and blue. Dinner was followed by the game. Grand Slam, prizes going to Miss Ruby Leak and Virginia Bateman. Nine guests enjoyed the a fair. Mrs. Arthur Bird was assisting hostess. Mrs. Oscar Morris assisted by Mrs. Ross Miner entertained for members of the J. N. club at the Morris home Wednesday night. Mrs. Luella McAllister assisted by Mrs. Harriett Jacobsen will entertain for members of the Gardner Camp of the D. U. P. at the next meeting which will be held at the McAllister home on Bingham highway Fl'iday, February 26. Mr. and Mrs. Axel Lundquist entertained on Monday for Mr. and Mrs. Ed Mills, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Shaw and daughter, I.l)ls, of Magna. Mr. and Mrs. George A. Bateman and family of Ogden spent Sunday visiting relatives here. The marriage of Miss Glendora Lundquist, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Axel Lundquist, to Ivan Smith of Salt Lake took place In Salt Lake Wednesday, February 10. Thursday evening a reception was given at the bride's home in their honor. A color scheme of pink and white was used as decorations throughout the rooms. Supper was served on one long table which was beautiful in its decorations, suggestive of Valentine day. COvers were laid for Mr. and Mrs. Claud Hibbard and son, Wilford, Mr. and Mrs. Rex Mitchel of Murray, Mr. and Mrs. Lau- renee Westling and Miss Edna Fres· ton of Salt Lake, Mrs. C. J. Lundquist of Benjamin, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hibbard, Mr. Ray Haun and son, Don, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Haun, Mrs. Arnold Moon, Miss Rela Booth, Ber· nice Blackett, Mary Pixton, Mr. and Mrs. Axel Lundquist, Donna Lundquist and son, Lavar, Miss Vyrle and Vaudis Lundquist, Barney and Floyd Lundquist. Mr. and Mrs. Smith will make their home in Salt Lake. Word was received by relatives here stating the death of Mrs. Emma Wight who has been ill for a long time. Mr. and Mrs. Wight and family were formerly of this ward. Miss Utahna Shields entertained at dinner Sunday for Mrs. Harvey Gibbons of Salt Lake. Mrs. P. T. Bateman was luncheon guest of Mrs. C. A. Allen of Salt Lake during the week. A number of women met at the home of Mrs. Elizabeth Hutchings Wednesday afternoon where twc study group& of Democratic women were organized. One in South Jordan and one for West Jordan. The officers for West Jordan are Mrs. Effie Lancaster, president, Mrs. George Henderson, vice president, Mrs. Ezra M. Bateman, secretary and treasurer. Mrs. Frank W. Penrose of Salt Lake gave a short talk after which dainty 1·efreshments were served by Mrs. Hutchings, assisted by Mrs. Franli: Edge!. 'I'he Primary officers . and teachers are working hard to present a pageant entitled, "The Light and Life of the Worldu at their conference to be JOURNA~ held in the ward chapel Sunday ngiht, February 21. A lot of time and hard work has been spent by the organization to present this and It is desired the parents will come out and see what the children are doing in this organization. Miss Leola Bateman returned home Sunday after spending two months with her grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. James A. Bateman. The members of the ward sympathize with our belovod Bishop W. W. Malstrom In his prolonged illness and are awaiting- anxiously to see his smiling face amongst us again. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Miner entertain~ ed at dinner Sunday for Mr. and Mrs. Elias Denos, Mr. and Mrs. Otis Yates. A number from this ward attended the funeral services of Mr. Thomas Featherstone held at American Fork Wednesday afternoon. He died at the home of his son, Mark B. Feather~ stone of this ward Sunday afternoon. Mr. D. R. Bateman, Mr. and Mrs. D. Leroy Bateman and family were complimentary guests at a. chicken dinner Sunday at the home of Mrs. Clarise Malstrom of Midvale. Mrs. Arthur Richardson was assisting hostess. HERRIMAN ITEMS Mrs. Spencer Miller entertained at a Valentine party Monday at the ward chapel complimenting Mrs. Walter E. Crane, Mrs. Alice Bowen. Mrs. Milton Bodell, Mrs. R. T. Bodell, Mrs. T. A. • Ingram, Miss Verda Bodell, Miss Olive Miller, Esther Crane, Florence Bodell, Norma Freeman, Helen Christensen, Glora Butterfield, Gwendolyn Crane and fourteen boys of her Trail Builders class ·of the primary. Games were played and prizes were won by Florence Bodell, Loran Miller, Glora Butterfield and Ross Butterfield. Refreshments were served. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Bodell and two children of Idaho have moved here to make their home. Miss Hazel Dansie of Payson was the guest of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Dansie during the past week. A George Washington party will be given Wednesday evening, February 24 at 7:30 p. m. in the school auditor[um by the Parent-Teacher associa~ tion. There will be a program, games and dancing and refreshments. All over eighteen years of age are cordial· ly invited to attend. Mr. and Mrs. Walter E. A. gave a Valentine dance at the recreation hall Saturday evening. The girls were very diligent in selling tickets, also in decorating the hall in appro· priate colorings. The door receipts went to the benefit of the Mutual. Mr. and Mr'l James McDonald and Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Fahrni visited friends in Bingham Saturday eve~ ning and attended the basketball game there. Mr. and Mrs. Phil Campbell of Murray spent the week-end here with their sister and family, Mrs. Leo Slater and Mr. and Mrs. Will Calloway. Mrs. D. A. Thomas returned to her home last week-end, after spending several days in Ogden with her parents. Mrs. Wallace Peterson entertained the bridge club to which she belongs, at her home Friday evening of last week, with cards. Luncheon was served to twelve ladies. Prizes were given to Mrs. AJmie Bloom and Mrs. Millie Wykert for high score. Mr. and Mrs. George Eastman and two daughters, Aloah and Almira, were visitors in Salt Lake City Wednesday and were the luncheon guests of their daughter and sister, Mrs. Jessie Payne. Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Meyerhoffer joined friends at the home of their brother and family, Mr. a.nd Mrs. Milo Davis, in Salt Lake City, where they were entertained at dinner Friday of last week.
