Summer Camps Prove Value The organize d summer camp had its beginnin g about 50 years ago. In 1880 Ernest Balch establish ed a camp for boys on Lake Asquam in New Hampsh ire. Shortly afterwa rd other camps were establif;h ed and the moveme nt began to grow rapidly.
