' Diane ·weekly Movie Review Reveals W/orld's Greatest Films Diana Theatre Presents Greatest Array Of Talent Ever Seen In Midvale. South Salt Lake County ' Theatre Goers Enjoy Paramount Stars Gary Cooper, Paramount's new Wes terri sbr, may be said to have "arrived"-very pleasa.ntly and very pleasingly and very definitely. His first starring picture "Arizona Bound" will be shown at the Diana, Saturday evening. It reveals Cooper as a tall, rangy young man who is a finished actor, as well as a rider of exceptio, nal grace and sltill. Frankly, it is quite likely that Gary Cooper will cause many a feminine heart to flutter, and that he will soon become est;¥Jlished as a prime favorite in western productions. "Arizona Bound" tells an absorbing storv of a series of exdti,ng events in a s1;1all mining town, when a shipment of gold sent out by the stage coach excites the cupidity of two rival gangs of bandits anc suspicion for the robbery is deliberately directed toward Cooper, a careless, irresponsible young fellow who finally makes things interesti.ng for the whole countryside. The star's hourse, named "Flash" is a beauty, and is an accomplished actor, as "·ell. In fact, he leaps, at one • bound, into that small coterie of famous screen horses, which has hitherto held only Tony, Rex and Silver King. Sunday and Monday Will see a youthful cast made the • "Whirlwind of Youth" an ex;traordinary picture. This picture will prove to be one of the most pleasing bits of entertainment that has come our way for many weeks. As the title indicates, this adaptation of A. Hamifton Gibbs' novel"Soundi, ngs" deals with "youth" and its cast is composed of fresh young players who are a positive delight on the screen. Lois Moran, Paramount's . h new star,~ contributes a c aractenzation that brings out all her sweet lack of sophistication. Miss Moran's introduction to Parisian studio life, where she goes to pursue her art stu dies, bri,ngs about a succession of colorful experiences and a wonderful new experience in which she feels the overpowering ffect of a Great Love. The picture also presents the first Amer~an work of Vera Voronina, European Paran~ount's most recent importation, a.nd she reveals herself as a ravishing blonde of tremendous appeal. Tuesday and Wednesday The DIANA wil present Bert Lytell in "Obey rthe Law" This is conceded to be one of the greatest crook sto"'h~s ever filmed and" is the iiequel picture to "The Lone Wolf." It is chuck full of action and a melodrama of the law. Thursday and Friday The DIANA will present Bert Ly.will present rthe picture that has taken the film fans of the country by storm. Thru the courtesy and co-operation of the Diana Theatre, this great picture "Slide, Kelly Slide," will be used for the BASEBALL BENEFIT-on behalf of Midvale's baseball team. The DIANA management expressed a desire to help the local ball learn in their forward march to the tfilp of the ladder in the Copper League and offered to show this baseball picture for that purpose. A large thare of the proceeds of this picture will be given to the local team. Every dne in Midvale should attend and put this benefit over the top--show the team that you are behind them even tho you cannot attend all the games. Two kinds of stars mingle in this picture-the movie and the big league players. A Salt Lake County boy, Tony Lazzeri-now of World Series fame, together with Bob Meuse! and "Irish" Meuse! of the big leagues are stars. Whe.n they played with the Yankees in the World Series they had thousands at their feet howling, yelling in their excitement. But who is the real star of "Slide, Kelly, Slide" Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer's . big baseball story? H is the whimsical yougl';ter who blends comedy and romance into a perfect ensemble-or the mighty player of the diamond? Both are equally important. The story has for its backgrou.nd the great world series, the mighty giants of baseball, the roar of the crowd-all used as a background for a love story between a boy and a girl -William Haines and Sally O'Neil.
