Show MIDVALE JOURNAL AND MURRAY EAGLE < MIDVALE FAILS TO TAKE GAME AFTER BRAVE FIGHT IN FINAL INNING . Although Midvale was given an even chance to win the game Sunday off the Edwards cla.n, she failed by two tallies to make the grade. After gathering enough runs off the Copper nine in the first eight innings to tie the league leaders, the locals made some costly errors in the ninth inning which coupled with four timely hits' by Copper, gave the leaders a,n 11 to 9 win over the new entry in the league. Though Midvl).le made a closing rally in the final frame, the three runs that it chased across the plate were not suf ficient to overcome the lead that the boys from up on the hill had establish ed with five runs in its half of the ninth. Midvale outhit the wi,nners, getting eleven safe bingles to Copper's nine, Batting honors of the day went to Midvale sluggers. Hal Egbert, Midvale shortstop, who has been hitting the ball at a lively clip throughout the season, ha(i a field day( gett~ng three clouts ou~ of his four trips to the plate two of f;lhem traveling far and away for foup'bases. L. Larson, who pitched ei~t innings for Midvale, showed that itchers can also gather in base connecting for a home run lj.)ts ~!l~ a single i,n his three turns at the ,. r ~¢ite. .
