Show M THROUGH A WOMANS WOMAN'S EYES By JEAN NEWTON J Q r by the Lilo Dell Bell Syndicate Inc On Idleness and Freedom I A complaint of many busy people today Is that the demands of their work are so great that they are I never free tree of It that there Is always something undone ahead of or them And yet ct If It we observe these people we find that they get the most peace and contentment out of life They rhey I are fire occupied constructively thel and cyer every everyday everyday day brings them the satisfaction of or accomplishment They arc are building and and whether It Is a n mother who Is I occupied with her children or a n man who Is founding and building a business business busi husi- ness each cach year shows the result result-of their labors In Improvement and growth than which there Is nothing more satisfying Ing or more con conducive fn to satisfaction and happiness u I It Is those who have nothing to do door door door or not enough to do who are always dissatisfied With those who have never been bus busy with whom Idling Is Isan Isau an au occupation time Is the cross they must bear how to l kill m It the bane hane I of or their existence Of all the burdens that the worker must carry there Is none so heavy as ns the time that hangs bangs bangson on the hands of the Idler But Dut the people who are the most convincing answer to those of us who resent having hayIng something undone always s 's ahead of us are those who were bus busy workers and have at last achieved their ambition to be free of routine and have plenty of leisure todo the things they would like to do It lt is the same with every one of them For n a short time they enjoy their new freedom They go o from one to another of the diversions and pleasures they had never had time timeto to enjoy taking In cYer everything the lack of which had ever eyer caused them to he be dissatisfied with their lot But hardly have they run the gamut when It all nIl begins to pall and they find the tile weight of time on their hands heavier than any work they had ever to do Witness the number of or men who retire and before the thu year Is out are back In business This reminds me too of the answer I heard one young oung mother give to another another an nn other who envied her for having had three years ears of freedom before being tied down with a n baby The only thing you ou have to envy I me for she said is that hn having experienced experienced experienced ex ex- s sch freedom I realize that I am missing nothing by being tied tlell down The girl who soon after her marriage marriage mar mar- e was faced with the responsibility and work entailed by a n bab baby thought of all the pleasures of which she had been deprived But nut the one who had the opportunity to tu enjoy them ther realized how little she was missing |
