Show June Is Dairy Month with Merlin Olsen Professional football great Merlin Olsen has been named Honorary Chairman of June Dairy Month in Utah for 1976. The well known defensive star for the Los Angeles Rams and a member of the legendary Fearsome Foursome will preside over statewide activities during the month in honoring Utahs dairy industry. Heading the list of events will be the annual Dairy Princess Pageant scheduled this year for June 5 at the Hilton Hotel in Salt Lake City. Mr. Olsen will be host and Master of Ceremonies for the pageant where county dairy princesses from throughout the state will compete for the honor of Utah State Dairy Princess. A native of the state, Mr. Olsen attended Utah State University where he was twice named in football and graduated summa cum laude. Later he received an M.S. degree in economics. Now in his 15th season with the Los Angeles Rams, Mr. Olsen has received numberous awards for his athletic performances including the National Football Leagues most valuable player award in 1974 and the most valuable ence in 1973. He holds an NFL record for his 14 consecutive appearances in the Pro Bowl. He has also performed in a number of movies and has been featured on several national television programs. Mr. Olsen has done extensive work in public relations as a motiva- tional consultant and has spearheaded numerous national campaigns for Easter seals, heart fund, multiple sclerosis and other like groups. Mr. Olsen commented that he is particularly pleased to represent the dairy industry because of the significant nutritional contributions it has made to his personal health and athletic career.
