But were making progress. The new parkway at the south entrance, the spruced up yards, the bright new homes, the plantings of trees bear and lawns and flowers-a- ll witness ing in warm water, thoroughly dry the feet, especially between the toes. After the foot bath, Avon recommends a soothing foot cream gently smoothed on, to help keep feet comfortable all day, and alleviate foot fatigue. Foot sprays, in powder form or mist, are wonderful helpers, and can be carried in your handbag. They help to refresh hot, swollen feet, as well as deodorize them, and can be sprayed on over hosiery. Get into the habit of being. kind to your feet. Keep them and in a healthy condition. Youll look and feel better. But we still have a way to go. When, as a member of the beautification committee, I was asked to indicate our main trouble spot, I wrote: our streets. Our streets are a major trouble spot because, in a way, nobody claims them. The irrigation ditches run along them. The grass and the weeds grow along the ditches. Clerk-Audit- Thurs ., Fri., Sat., June 26, 27, 28 business are they? Actually, they're our business. Something is being done about the streets. The city is mowing the weeds and grass along the sidings. The Cubs and the Scouts are out gathering and hauling away the litter. But the city cant do it all. The Cubs and the Scouts cant do it all. The mower doesnt reach every b'ad spot. The boys cant do the raking that needs to be done. That leaves something for the rest of us. First, the ditch banks in front of our own premises. Then maybe a nudge-- or even our neighbor. an assist--fo- r The other day I saw a boy moving the weeds and grass on the street in front of his home. He then moved on down the street and went to work on the ditch banks in front of the neighbors home. She happens to be an elderly widow. Of course, there are other trouble spots: the vacant lots and the privately owned junk yards here and there whose owners dont seem to care, not seeming to realize that THEIR junk yard is also OUR junk yard. The time and the labor is idle youngsters available-t- he who need something to do-t- he lazy fishermen like me. All most of us need is the nudge. Maybe what we also need is a little more pride-- in our premises, our street, our neighborhood. Added up that means Manti . . . more beautiful-i- n summertime the season of visitors and family reunions and countless guests attending the pageant. As beautification chairman Lila Keller aptly puts it. . . now is the time for that extra push . . . on the rake, the hoe, the shovel handle, the mower. Now is the time. That reminder comes from the Provo Social Security office. No matter which month shes married in, a bride should give Social Security her new name so her social security card and her earnings record can be kept accurate and up to date. Then earnings she had both before and after her marriage can be correctly credited to the same record. Earnings women have in jobs covered by social security will determine the amount of their cash benefits - and not just when they retire. During their -- working years, women also build disability, survivors, and Medicare protection for themselves and their families. To get her name changed on her record, a new bride can call or write any social security office or she can use a form available at any post office and at many employer personnel offices. Disabled children under 18, or 18 to 21 and attending school, may be eligible for Supplemental Security Income. Monthly payments of up to $146.00 may be payable to handicapped children of low income families. The disability may be mental or physical and must be severe enough to prevent the child from working. For further information, contact the Social Security office in Provo (173 East 100 North, or the representative who will visit the Manti City Hall on July 8th and 22nd from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. 377-565- Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. These historical gems wing their way and travel now over many miles into every state of the union and several foreign countries. Please help the Saga to continue to soar by writing your favorite incidents and stories. They should be preserved; they deserve to be kept for posterity. This way you will not only be reading and enjoying history where its at, but will be helping to make history too.
