Show Ephraim Library to host literary discussions By Holly Lnne Simonsen The Snow College Convocation on Thursday, February 4 will feature Kay Jensen representing the Attorney General's Office. She will address the audience on the topic of domestic violence. The program is scheduled to start at 12:30 in Snow College's Crane Theater. The public is invited to as an Emergency Medical Technician. She has also spent several years as a Psychiatric Nurse at Mountain View Hospital in attend free of charge. Jensen spen: 13 years working as a public health nurse and a school nurse. She has worked at Sanpete Valley Hospital and also Currently she is a resident of Manti and works with the State Attorney General's Office in the area of domestic violence. She is also currently the Chairman of Sanpete's Sate at Home Program. She is a qualified child abuse prev ention counsellor, and recently passed the exam to Pay son, Utah. become a drug and alcohol counsellor. Due to these high creden tials she is an expert in the motivations of, and preventative measures related to domestic violence. Jensen's ideas are supported Linda Bateman, also a resident by of Sanpete. Both women are ac- tive advocates in the fight for public health reform. Bateman states that One third of all women experience some type of domestic violence in their lifetime. She states that this creates a major social economic problem. Her goal is to raise aw areness that survivors of domestic v iolence need help. Without some form of therapy, we turn to addictions in order to compensate for internal turmoil, remarks Bateman. It is also more likely we will pass on the cycle. Sanpete County many resources are available for help. These include a support group on campus directed by Susan Whiting. There is also a support group that meets every Tuesday from 5:30 to 7:30 in the evening at the Ephraim Senior Citizen's Center. Bateman states that there are also several people can call.
