B Kjar Salt Lake City Lloyd E. E and Ben C. C Kjar Manti and Mrs Mis Glenn Barbara Bailey Ephraim They have 27 grand grand- children A native of Manti Mr 1 Kjar was born October 25 1885 a son of Louis C C. C and Annie E Edith d i t h Jensen Kjar He received his early education in the Manti ManU schools and attended the Utah State Agricultural College at Logan where he was active in musical circles playing leading roles in the operas there for several years A prominent farmer and cattleman cattleman cattleman cat cat- Mr Kjar was the first president of the Farmers Equity in Sanpete County and was secretary secretary sec- sec of the first County Fair Board Always an active supporter supporter supporter sup sup- porter of the County Fair Mr Kjar and his wife have won many blue ribbons on fruits vegetables and flowers at State Fairs as well as county exhibits In a civic capacity Mr Kjar served as secretary of the Commercial Commercial Commercial Com Com- mercial Club An active member member member mem mem- ber of the Church he has served as a teacher and secretary secretary secretary secre secre- tary in the Sunday School and andas as a ward teacher He is at present a High Priest in the Manti lanti Center ward Ephia Bird Kjar was born in Nephi October 31 1886 a daughter of Charles H H. and Alice Ann Evans Bird She at attended attended attended at- at tended schools in Nephi and Manti 1 and at the Brigham Young University in Provo Mrs Kjar organized and directed di directed directed di- di the first Relief Society Chorus in the Center ward later la later later la- la ter known as the Singing Mothers Mothers Mothers Mo Mo- and served for m many my years as chorister in the Relief Society She and and Mr Kjar have both been members of the Manti Man Man- ti Choir for over 50 years going with that group to Salt Lake City to sing in the Tabernacle on en n three different occasions They have both given much service servIce service ser ser- vice through their talents of music Mrs Kjar has been an ordinance ordinance ordin ordin- ance worker in the Manti ManU Tampie TempIe Tempie Tem Tem- 10 pie for the pa past t four years In 1 1 a civic capacity she has served as president of the local chapter chap- chap ter of the Daughters of U Utah Uta t a h Pioneers for two years and as asa a county officer and a chorister of that organization She has hasit g it been vice president of the American Am- Am AmI I Legion Auxiliary the pas past year and is the present chaplain chaplainS v l S of that organization As a member member member mem mem- ber of the Manti Ladies Literary club she has served as corres corres- secretary and as assistant assistant as- as secretary They request no presents at athe atthe atthe the he open house |
