But before you hop into the car and take off, the Insurance Information Institute suggests you run through a few precautions against burglary while youre away. Heres a check list. -- Ask a neighbor to handle mail, circulars and newspapers, or have the newspaper mailed to your vacation refuge. -- Dont publicize your travel plans in advance. Burglars can read newspapers. -- Make sure you have the right kind of locks on doors and , windows. Dont forget garage doors or sliding windows. -- Look into the idea of plug-i- n timers to turn lights and a radio on and off while youre away. If you can get a variable timer so lights go on and off at different times during the evening, so much the better. you can get your neighbors to open your draperies in the morning and close them in the evening, do so. Offer to take care of theirs when they're away. Precautions or not, no house is burglar-prooPossibly to recover lost property or as an aid in recovering your financial f. loss under your insurance policy, the Institute suggests: Make a list of serial numbers of items like TVs, radios, guns, stereos, cameras, and the like. -- Get photographs of jewelry, silver and other valuables. -- Keep copies of the lists and pictures in a safe place; give your insurance agent a copy for his files. Look into inexpensive metal engravers. You can put an identifying number, such as your Social Security number, on many items to provide positive identification. Fishing Opener: Some Hot , Some Not so Hot Utahs fishing opener last week could be touted as hot, cold, and everywhere in between. It all depended on who you asked. East Canyon Reservoir above Salt Lake City was very good on the opener with at least one 5 Vi pounder being pulled in and reports of four pounders from several sources. The crowd wasnt as big as usual, probably due to the mud slide blocking access from the Salt Lake valley. But anglers who went through Henefer or Morgan found the pickin's good on a beautiful, sunny day. Minersville and Ottercrcck reservoirs and Panguitch Lake also reported good fishing. Deer Creek anglers took some good sized fish, trolling in boats. One 19 pounder was reported. Strawberry, the traditional favorite on the opener, had good boat fishing; but those who stayed ashore did even better. Bait fishermen had good luck using worms and cheese. The crowd there was down on the opener-ma- ny anglers apparently drove on to Starvation s Reservoir where pressure very heavy and fishing only fair. Scofield Reservoir yielded to some fine rainbows in the range as well as a few larger cutthroats. Pineview, Rockport and Echo all reported slow fishing, but those waters should pick up as the water warms. Stream fishermen had few spots to choose from. The lower Provo, though high and muddy, did yield some 10- - to rainbows below Vivian Park. The Weber River below Wan-shiDam produced some good catches for anglers willing to work. Shore fishing at most lakes and reservoirs is expected to be very good in upcoming weeks 10- - June Nelson Glen FOR SALE MISCELLANEOUS FOR SALE: Two acres, south of Ephraim. mile 1 283-43- 46 at- tended the wedding reception of their son Steven and Mirreo Glease in Pleasant Grove on June "th.
