Peterson, director of the State Emergeny Medical services, visited the Snow College Area Vocational School this week to assist Director Thomas Henretty and Coordinator Richard Anderson in organizing an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course. This is the first time the course has been offered In the three county area, Millard, Juab and Sanpete. It is anticipated approximately 40 people from these counties will receive emergency medical training from the course. Mr. Peterson states that because of the expenses involved in offering such a course, afee of $30.00 will be charged per student. Director Henretty said that a student should only pay the fee after their notification of acceptance to the course. Anderson explained that the individual wouldbe reimbursed many times over for the expense of the course from pay received for services rendered to the local ambulance pro- gram. The Emergency Medical Technicians course will begin Friday, April 18 and will continue every Friday and Saturday until the end of May. Students will receive instruction on presented by physicians and other specially trained people. One highlight of the course is extrication day when students have the experience of handling simulated automobile accidents. First hand experience will also be given to the students In area hospitals. The course has as its main objective, the training of those who will handle ambulance service in your community and then open to those who are firemen, belong to police units, sheriffs posse, or other interested persons desiring to get this medical background. Preference will be given to those who are or will be assigned to ambulance service. For those desiring to stay overnight, rooms can be obtained through the Snow College Area Vocational School at $3.00 a night.
