Show Messenger-Enterpris- e, Messenger-Enterpris- e Thursday, April 11,1996 The Snow College Convocation on Thursday, April 11, will Robyn Rebecca Walk feature Stacey Bess, a remarkable young teacher in a most unusual school. Bess will speak in the Crane Theatre at Snow College at 12:30 p.m. The public is welcome. Stacey Bess began her first teaching assignment in a metal shed under a freeway viaduct in Salt Lake City, during the winter of 1988. Her students were children from homeless families and Salt Lake School District was the first in the nation to make educational provisions for the homeless. By the end of her first term, despite conditions she says could be best described as medieval, she was able to create a hands-o- n Spain Malaga i Robyn Rebecca Walk has been called to serve an LDS mission in the Spain Malaga Mission. She will enter the Missionary Training Center on April 17, 1996. A farewell for Robyn will be held Sunday, April 14, at 9:30 a.m. in the Manti Stake Center at 300 South Main, Manti. An open house for family and friends will be held following the meeting at the Manti Senior Citizens Center. Robyn is the daughter of Lynn and Rebecca Walk of Manti. Her grandparents are Earl and Thekla Walk of West Valley City and O. Davis and LaVee Washburn of Bennion. She is a 1993 graduate of Manti Seminary and Manti High School, where she was active in student government. Brooks, is currently serving in the Washington D.C. South Mission. LDS Ephraim Dairy Pageant seeks 1996 contestants Dylan Jason The Maylett Dylan Jason Maylett had his first birthday on Friday, March 29. He celebrated his birthday with his parents, Jason and Cindalyn Maylett and his big sister Brookelyn, of Manti. His grandparents are Greg and Janet Maylett of Manti, and Kirk and Suzan Hill of West Valley. contestants. This years pageant will be Saturday, May 4th. Young women who would like to participate must be 7 years old by January 31, 1997. They must enjoy dairy products and be willing to promote the dairy industry in Sanpete County. They will present Theatre Through the Ages: Sample Scenes from Then to 1 Susie Duke Winterton Andrus will observe 90th birthday Susie Duke Winterton Andrus will be honored on her 90th birthday with an open house at the home of her daughter and Mr. and Mrs. Keith Young, Sterling, Utah. Susie was born April 10 1906 in Heber City, Utah to Alfrea and Janet Gardner Duke. She married I larold Winterton in the Salt Lake LDS Temple June II, 1924. Harold was killed in a tragic train-truc- k collision seven years later, leaving her a young widow' with three small children. She married J. Ivan Andrus Dec. 23, 1932 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
