Jim Noorlander, Indianola, is the new vice chair and Bonnie Mellor, Spring City, was reelected secretary. A new position was created to represent the county on the State Republican Central Committee. Fred Van der Veur, past county Chairman, was elected as the central committee member and will be attending state meetings with llene and Jim. Appreciation was expressed to past officers and they were recognized for fund raising efforts and money spent to encourage turnout. Through these efforts was made possible 29 state delegates instead of 23. This would make it possible for each district to choose its own state delegate and eliminate having to hold elections at the county nominating convention. The state Republican Organizing Convention will be held May 10, 1997, 2 noon, at the Salt Palace Convention Center. All state delegates will be invited to attend. Rachel has been very busy w ith school and church activities. She was just released as her Laurels President. As part of her serv ice project, she helped others in her school by being a peer tutor. She planned and organized her Young Women's New Beginnings pro gram. To improve her own talents she put together a portfolio of her accomplishments for Sterling Scholar in speech and drama.
