J Peterson 57 last lat Saturday Mr 1 Peterson died inthe inthe in the he mountains of a heart attack at attack attack at- at tack while hunting deer He was born in Fairview April 13 1894 a son of Christian Christian Chris Chris- tian and Christena Anderson Peterson His father held theoffice theoffice the theoffice office of deputy sheriff in Sanpete Sanpete Sanpete San- San pete County for many years He attended the Fairview Public School and then majored major major- ed in blacksmithing at the BYU He married Maude 1 Stewart of Fairview March 1 1 1916 in the Manti L D S Temple STemple His occupations were sheep shearing blacksmithing and coal mining until 1926 when he was chosen by the Fairview Republican Republican Republican lican committee as deputy sheriff sheriff sheriff sher sher- iff for James H H. Sanderson Mr Peterson was elected sheriff in 1930 and was a well-known well and respected much-respected officer Joins Army 1 He resigned as Sheriff in January 1942 and moved to Salt Lake City where he he- heen enlisted enlisted enlisted en en- listed with the U.
