S Carlson 67 died suddenly on Monday londay December 8 and funeral services were held in the M l Manti a anti n t i South ward on Thursday at 2 p p. p pm p.m. m. m Mr Carlson was born in Manti Man Man- ti March 8 1885 a son of Carl F. F and Maste laste Marie Jorgensen Carlson He lie had been a lifelong lifelong lifelong life life- long Manti resident He filled a mission to Sweden from 1910 to 1913 He has served as one of the seven presidents presidents pre pre pre- of Seventy in the quorum of Seventies and was wasa a High Priest at the time of his lis death He had been active in n church work all his life Mr 11 Carlson was engaged in cement contracting in his early life iCe Together with his brother brothel Wilford he laid most of the first sidewalks in Manti l He also engaged in mining sheep herding and poultry raising He served ser as city sexton from 1934 to 1947 and is credited with witha a i great beautification project at the Manti cemetery Improvements Improvements Improvements Improve Improve- ments such as the removal of trees perpetual care of cemetery cemetery tery ery lots planting of lawns and androse androse rose and tulip beds were all begun during his term as sex- sex ton on A lover of nature he took special interest in flowers particularly particularly par- par roses He took pride in n his property and surroundings surround surround- ings and in later years devoted devote much nuch time to improvements and auri about his home including raising many beautiful ful ul flowers He married Bertha in ill inthe the he Manti lanti Temple on September 14 4 1910 He is survived by his widow and five children Ivan Spanish Fork Clair R.
