S. S He Ie came to Utah working in Salt Lake City for a time then moving moving moving ing to Fayette and then to Man Man- MantI tI ti He married Matilda Sophia I Alder in the Manti Temple June 12 1889 1689 and she died February 1920 He married Lydia E. E Schramm of Payson in the Manti ManU Man Man- ti U Temple September 20 1920 Mr Carpenter has been very active in church activities He was a member of I the Manti ManU North Ward Vard Bishopric for twenty twenty twenty ty years has been a Patriarch for the South Sanpete stake since May 1918 and md served as recorder at the Manti ManU Temple for nearly 45 years Shortly after af after after af- af ter his first marriage he served for 3 years as a missionary to Samoa He served as ManU Manti City Re Recorder Recorder Recorder Re- Re corder and was assistant cashier at the Manti ManU City Bank for 16 years At 95 Mr Carpenter is still sUll active and alert He walks up uptown uptown uptown town several times a week and has a keen memory of the happenings happenings happenings hap hap- over those past 95 years n 0 |
