Sterling, Feb. 4th.tS89 Editor Sextlnel.- As there has been very little in your paper about your near est ueighbor.Sterling, I thought I would give you a few items about the prospects of our little berg. We have a good attendance at our Sabbath and Thursday night Meetings, also at the Elders Meetings which convene once a week, and at which two or three of the brethren, who have been selected at the previous meeting, lecture. Our District School is full, the house only having been built to accommodate 45 pupils and now we have enrollred 70. Mr. J. P. Madson. of Manti, is in charge, and is doing excellently well, especially so when we consider the crowded condition ot the house, and the mixed grades taught. Our Trustees expected to limit the permits to 40 for tins term, which commenced last Monday. We have a fast" town. One of the attractions is a race-trac- k through one 0 our principal streets, in front of the school house and Meeting house. You see this is an advantage; our school children can be educated in horse and foot racing and betting, as well as in book learning. And again; on the Sabbath day, after services, why those can again be indulged in, including a lot of piofanity, and I blush to say, it is so Dont you think we are fast, on the eve of a boom, so to speak.? Now if this will be any inducement to our little S- - P. V Rv. to extend, please tell them we have lots of the Sterling and it is only six miles south of the Temple City.
