We shall probably soon hear of Primaries being called to consider and nominate a ticket for said election. The donimant party of Manti is the reoples party, who will, without doubt, have1 a good ticket in the field. There may he other" tickets brought" forth, but the people's ticket is pretty sure to be out. What we, the citizens of Manti, want, is good efficient officers who are friends to the people at Urge, and who have the interests of Manti at heart, and who will work for the progress and prosperity of this city. During the four years of the Sentinpl in Manti there has been two Councils, both of which have done tli ir best for the furtherence of the interests of our town. Both have made successes and both may have made mistakes, but we believe that both have assiduously laboured for the welfare of the city, and what can be said to the credit of both, is that they have kept the city out of debt. The citizens of Manti can see the results of the labors of the City fathers in the arrangement and beautifying of our Cemetery, "which is well spoken of by all our visitois; the iniptoved condition of our streets and sidewalks; the improvements 111 the interior and exterior of the City Hall, the finishing of w hich gave to our citizens another school room, without winch the facilities for schools would indeed be deplorable. Attempts have been made to increase our water supply, and wh'le the attempt appears to he a failure, so far, the city authorities have put much time and thought on the subject. Their acts, in this respect, have been variously criticised by the people, but we must admit that we are not prepared to say whether they were well directed or not but this we will say, if they were not well directed we believe afid must give the' originators of the Scheme and those who executed the work of the reservoirs credit foi tpivmg done all for the best good of Manti. There is no good, however, in dealing tyilh the dead past, our future is what We bewe must all look forward to. lieve the people know pretty well what has been done, and will, in consequence, make good selections at their caucuses. One of the principle labors devolving to tty nnd fut UpUil our nett tAJnwstl, lush this City with more and bettet Better water water, it such is possible. they must try for whether the supply is increased or not. What we mean by better water, is puref water, free from filth, fronq the unnatural elements with which the water is now' impiegnated, as Jhe water in city creek in its natutal unadulterated state is as good water as any tn the Territory. Then they must remove the corrals and other obnoxious buildings off the creek, or adopt some other system of furnishing the water to the people for drinking and cooking purposes so that those people living in the lower pait of the city will not be obliged to drink the drainings from the uptowm stables, etc. They must adopt some way of keeping sheep and cattle herds out of the city limits, especially in the m ilter of cantping over night 011 fhe stieels and driving through the principal streets of the city. They must continue to enforce the 'Curfew' and Liquor ordinances, and do all in then power to reduce the sale ol intoxicants, even to absolute prohibition, if then pisdnm so directs. These are truly a few itepts of that will come before them, and which will have to be accomplished before Manti leaches the pinnacle of perfection to which she is entitled as the M Temple City, and that we have every cause to expect and believe we will attain from the known energy ofourpubl.c servants and the r (sources which they can command. We hope much from the next Council and feel quite confident that our hope will be realized.
