The question under consideration is "What is Your Religion?" and a small test survey of responses to it has been made in a recent site. A good many people, who may bo religious without subscribing to any creed, would find it difficult. wo should think, to answer questions of religious denomination. And a good many people might find the question offensive as an invasion of privacy. Answers to census questions aro required by law. How useful would the answers to this question be? It is easy to understand why church organisations and religious publications would like to have such information) but the Government itself could hardly make use of it fines it is forbidden by the Constitution to make any law respecting an establishment of religion. Moreover, the Information would bo of dubious validity because of the question's complexity and ambiguity. Wa think it would be better left unasked in order to avoid any breach in the wall of separation between church and stats. NEW RATES; OTHER PERTINENT DATA A resolution amending sections and 15 of the Magna Water Company, is published in another section of this paper, giving various changes and increased rates. These are the words of a crippled slave, also known as Epictetus the Philosopher, back in the days of Nero. Epictetus, they say, even knew the disturbance of the torture rack. Yet he lived a life of amazing strength and composure, and wound up teaching the secret to rich men's sons. Let that fifteen-wor- d sentence sink into your mind, and I think you will find, that it has a magical way of smoothing out the rough spots and making your life easier. You may find that it drives away nine tenths of the things that trouble you. Montaigne remarked that the power of reason was not given to us as a torment It seems clear that we are not using our reason, but misusing it when we make it a device for disturbing ourselves. 15 It in The Timet or Leade-r- QUEEN TO REIGN AT COPPER GOLF CLUB RECORDS LONG HISTORY 4th PLANNED FOR JUNE 19th Merry-Go-Roun- d, FETE Plans are being advanced for the Independence Day Magna celebration, and a beauteous miss from this area will reign over the parade and gala fete, announces Ray D.
