Copper Hills Elementary Principal Joey Foote said he hopes the motto will inspire student achievement and community involvement at the school where he has been the principal foi seven model wfcich Foote said he hopes will bolster student achievement "You wouldn't think of Magna schools as being urban," Foote said, "but we have many of the characteristics of a large urban school (including) students with a low status and a high percentage of ethnic minorities. The Urban Learning Center model was dev e toped by the New American Schools and focuses on four main areas: teaching and teaming; teaming supports; school governance; and ment," Foote said. Foote said technology is being used at Copper Hills not only to support teachers and aid to school gov hit also to teach stua dents how to create presentations. This year, the schodl and eight others from throughout Magna and West Valley City are part of a coalition of schools called the Cypress Learning Network.
