With that process in place, we must wait for approximately 45 days for the county to study the petition, check the signatures of the property owners and do what they need to do to ' i nfy that Kearns has followed proper procedures to proceed with incorporation. The Keams petition also includes a feasibility consul-- t a t lo be hired to study the incor-- , .it ion issue and put this into a dollars and cents interpretation for Kearns residents. This study will include the amount of tax money now being spent for services such as police, fire, garbage, etc., verses the tax dollars needed as an independent city for the same services. he study u ill also determine dollars to be received from anticipated growth and how that growth might be generated. Upon completion of die study, there will be two public meetings held about six weeks apart for citizens to attend, wherein tl i and concerns of Keams incorporation will be discussed. I he final stage of incorporation will be a vote by Keams residents to place this important question on the ballot. The voting could take place one year to 18 months after ai least 33 of Kearns citizens agree. Keams could become a city before the 2002 Winter Olympics i grace our town. Another development that may affect Keams is the possible loss of Oquirrh Shadows located south of 6200 South and between 4800 West and 5600 West. Concert Choir The Keams Concert Choir and Madrigals both competed at the state level this year. For the first time in Alyce Mutters 9 years here, the Concert Choir was awarded in state competition. three ls Though they have competed at State before, this marks the first time receiving three Concert Choir! 1 s. Way to go Water Polo team 2 in state The boys water polo team had a great year and finished out in second place at state competition, held at the Keams Oquirrh Park Fitness Center. In the championship round, they lost to Taylorsville 8 and Great job, guys! 5-- 4. Miss Trisha Lynn Bandeka and Mr. Anthony Tony Bennett have set Friday, June 30, 2000 as the date to exchange wedding vows in the Salt ,.Lake Temple. Miss. Bandeka is a 1996 graduate of Kearns High School, where she was a cheerleader with the as a sophomore, Jr. Varsity Cheerleader in her junior year and varsity cheerleader as a senior. Trisha was also a member of the KHS girls softball team during her sophomore year. Trisha was one of twelve Utah students who were recipients of the es Martin and the Luther King, Jr. Leadership Award in 1996. She is currently employed as a sure gical technician and is a student studying architecture. She enjoys sports, scrap Performing Arts Awards honored Lucas Kirby as Best Actor in a Play and AJ. Yates and Emily Sharp as Best Supporting actoractress in a musical. Mike Holshue received the Theatre Arts Award 2000 for Outstanding High School Theatre Career. In addition, Kearns Inherit the Wind was noted as Best Play. He enjoys basketball, soccer, skiing and just about every sport as well. Tony served a mission for the LDS Church in two-ye- ar the Japan Fukuoka Mission from 1996 to 1998. He is cur- rently employed with the Sheraton Hotels. He recently finished requirements for his Associate Degree from Salt lake Community College and will be attending the University of Utah while working on his engineering degree.
