Identification of the remains,' consisting of a partial skeleton, fragments of clothing, was made by Mike Sadovich Jr. and Annie Sadovich of Tooele, brother and 1 sister. They said their brother had been both mentally and physically ill and had been visiting a Salt Lake physician. The day he another disappeared he asked brother to bring him to the doctor, but the brother demurred because ttie weather was stormy. Peter Sadovich then set out afoot from Tooele, came to the doctors office in Salt Lake City, and started to hitchhike home again. Sheriff White said he probably started out West 2100 So. street and tried to cut across country in the storm instead of staying on the road, losing his way and falling into the pond. Among the means by which relatives identified the corpse was an Eagles lodge button in a coat lapel, the texture and color of the suit and overcoat, and the misplacement of the partition in the nostrils which, they said, had caused him trouble in breathing. This misplacement was quite apparent in the skulL The relatives said the man had been inj- ' ured in a mine cave-i- n. Identification of the skeleton search for Peter Sadmich. Sheriff White said flat immediately after his disappearance circulars containing his description were broadcast over the country and each report of an unidentified man was followed up by the family. The brother and sister went to Salt Lake City Friday after receiving a call from the sheriffs office, which had a copy of the old circular on file. ends a DUCK CLUB MEETING SET ltt Up To You jfentified By Tcoele nation-wid- e Peter Sandovich was born in Anaconda. Mont., November 8, 1900, a son of Mike and Julia Smicklas Every community, whether it be a tiny village or a teeming metropolis, should at this time make fire prevention a headlined civic activity. Fire prevention is vitally important at any time. In this period, when we are attempting to turn all possible national resources to defense purposes, its importance is magnified many times. Anyone can understand the menace of fire to defense factories a conflagration could delay vital production for months. And it should also be understood that the prevention of fire everywhere is a definite contribution to defense. Materials and labor which are needed to rebuild a home or a barn or a place of business, cannot be used for defense work. The more fires we prevent, the fewer material shortages we will have and the faster the defense will go through to a successful consummation. Many organizations are doing everything conceivable to gird and prevent fire. The National Board, for instance, has given its full services, without charge, to the War and Navy departments, in order to prevent fires in army camps, naval bases, etc. It is carwork rying on arson and sabotage. It is intensifying its inspection of communities and industries. These activities are bearing fine fruit. But they cannot achieve maximum success without unlimited public and civic aid and coopera- tion. Keep in mind the fact that fire prevention is in the direct interest of your safety, your security, your survival. And do your part. Every Citizen's Concern By proclamation, President Roosevelt calls for more intensive campaign against accidents with their attendant fearful consequences.. To insure maximum efficiency in the national defense effort we must have maximum safety 24 hours a day not only at work, but also on the highways, at home, everywhere. We must, indeed. Last year accidents took a toll of 96,500 lives and accounted for a total of injured. Some 330,000 were left permanently disabled. The outlook for this year is even darker. In the first six months traffic deaths alone were 17 per cent higher than in the corresponding 1940 period. That rate, unless substantially and promptly checked, means nearly 6,000 more than last year are doomed to die that way this year. It is a repelling prospect Truly, the troubled times in which we live must make us callous or indifferent ' to human suffering.' And there is also the economic loss, the calculable costs for the last year have been $3,500,000,000. This sum does not include such costs as those caused by. decreased or disrupted production schedules. These cannot be estimated, but they establish the direct relation pointed out by the President between accidents and defense. His plea is one that concerns every Sadovich. Grownups are disposed to be jittery these days and that is not a good frame of mind for developing youth. The annual demand has been made that teachers pay less attention to the three Rs and more to the duties and responsibilities of citizenship. That cry is not quite so old as the free school system, but even yet no one knows exactly what is meant by it It is argued that a child is less likely to be a good citizen if he learns to read well and write well and to figure with accuray. And are there some secrets of good citizenship that a child cannot learn by observation of grownups even while he is attendip as citizen by getting his lessons and being prompt in fulfilling normal school duties. As a matter of fact, on the noraverage, child life is more mal and orderly and conscientious than adult life. The riotous, destructive, dismakorderly world is not of their done ing. The grownups haven't such a good job.
