A leap year, it will afford 366 days for accomplishment, development, improvement, each of them golden opportunities to enjoy life and share experiences with family and friends. The 1972 year is one in which we hold a presidential election. It promises to be one in which peace in Vietnam may be a reality and it is hoped the military and economic differences between Arabia and Israel, as well as Pakistan and India, may be resolved. Each New Year finds many of us resolving to adopt new ideas, forget unpleasant experiences of the past, and resolve to improve our lives and opportunities. The New Year can be one of many choice experiences and to all who read these lines we wish them prosperity, peace, happiness and the best things life can afford, in a new year of achievement p.m. Members of the Oquirrh Stake scouting will participate in a stake "Scouting Family Banquet on Jan. 22 at the Oquirrh Stake House, beginning at 6:00 p.m. All stake, ward and scout leaders and partners are invited. 3antiil .7,Vd ...The New Generation A young man, 19 years old, was elected mayor of Newcomers-towand he says that he has turned down bribes and job offers amounting to $28,000. That sounds a bit fishy, even in the state where profit is not a dirty word. If he is exaggerating, in the exuberance of youth, then has made a poor choice; if he is telling the truth, then it is a sad comment on American life. n, ... A Parting Shot The true test of civilization is, not the census, nor the size of cities, nor the crops no, but the kind of men the country turns out. Ralph Waldo Emerson By Rev. A Someone must perform the tasks of leadership. If our most gifted and idealistic young people are driven away, less able and idealistic people will fill the vacuum. If we scorn the tasks of leadership, then we must not complain when public life is taken over by buffoons and counterfeiters. Special guest W'ill be Don L.
