The disabling injury frequency rate is estimated at 1.88 disabling injuries for every million lost-tim- rs man-hour- Award of Merit was given to the entire division four times and to the mine twice for working in excess of one million man-houwithout a disabling injury. The division, smelter, refinery and Arthur ore concentrator all set new records for man-houworked without disabling injury. rs s. - Safer on Job Kennecott employees were more than 16 per cent safer on the job than off of it last year. The 25 injuries compared with 405 during 1961. Both figures represent decreases over 1960 when there were 39 accidents at work and 451 at home. The divisions severity rate measuring the time lost from the job because of injury is estimated at 409 days per million hours, an improvement of 73.4 per cent over the 1960 rate of 1,539. This indicates that most injuries last year were minor and did not require men to be off the job for long periods of time.
