Show The Magna TimesVVest Valley News September 19, 2002 3 Community Lions breakfast helps children Lions Clubs the state throughout recently participated in helping to raise funds for Utahs Christmas Box Houses. Last year, Harmons stores and the Lions Clubs worked together to raise more than $13,000 through the breakfast fundraiser. This year, the total raised at the breakfast exceeded $16,000. Each of the Lions Clubs, including Hunter and Magna Lions Club hosted a chuck-wago- n breakfast at each of the states 10 Hannons store with all proceeds going toward the Christmas Box Houses. "Lions, members of the world largest civic organization literally lived up to their motto of we serve by cooking and serving the breakfasts, said Bill Barton, spokesman for the Hunter Lions Club. The 20 Lions Clubs that served breakfasts included Ogden, Lewis Peak, Riverdale, Union, Hunter, Washington Terrace, Roy, South Salt Lake, Holladay, Midvale, Union, Tooele, Rose Park, Kearns, Bennion, Obituaries Cory Dean Hardman Twenty-on- e Our beloved Son, Husband, Brother and Uncle. Cory Dean Hardman, age 40, died Sent. 10, in Salt peace-full- y Lake City, Utah. Bom June 18, 1962 in Salt Lake City to Richard and Joyce Hardman. He attended Granite High School. He married Heidi Shaw on Feb: 14, 1998. Cory always enjoyed family outings and all outdoor sports. He loved football, and always put his family first. Cory is survived by abused and neglected children. It is a place where they can receive diagnosis and assessments under one roof in a safe, home-lik- e environment. It is almost always used to full capacity. The next Christmas Box House is being planned in the Ogden area. Harmons stores donated all of the food supplies used by the Lions dubs, who brought their chuckwagon-typ- e mobile kitchens to each Harmons location to cook Taylorsville, Magna, Bluffdale, South Jordan, Payson and Bloomington. The Christmas Box house is a project that grew from an idea of Richard Paul Evans, local author of the book, "The Christmas Box and other. Evans established a nonprofit entity with initial funding and the endeavor was started, the first house was built at 3660 S. West Temple in Salt Lake City for the purpose of intermediary care of his wife, Heidi; breakfast Additional money was raised by the sale of books, bricks and donations for the house. In attendance at several of the chuckwagon fundraising breakfast was Evans, who helped cook breakfast and greeted those who came to eat As an added feature, members of The Old Time Fiddlers performed at the Granger Harmons store breakfast. Susan was bom May 26, 1958 to J. Wayne and A. in Oleta Gines Van-Tasse- ll West Valley City. Susan loved her children n as and her well as her animals. She also loved the great outdoors and loved camping, fishing, and hunting. She is survived by her husband, Mike; daughter. Holly; son, Cody; grandchil grand-childre- dren, Jordan Ikari, Chase Keener, Keena Keener, of whom she was very proud; sister, Kerri (Brad) Gonnuscio; brothers, Jim (Margo), Steve VanTassell; nephews, Jason, Michael, Mark, Jeff, Travis, C.J.; and nieces, Jamie, Mackenzie. Preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Eilleen VanTassell. She is loved and will be greatly missed by all. Graveside services were held Tues.
