Show TimeAVet The Magn New, Valley 3 May 30, 2002 Community Teen selected to attend Utah national pagent West Valley City will be represented in the the Miss Utah National Teen-Ag- Scholarship Program by Elizabeth Bare. The Program pageant will be held Friday and Saturday at the Ragan Theater on the campus of 1 the Utah Valley State Colllge. If selected as Miss Utah National Teenager, Bare will represent the state in the National pageant to be held in Nashville in August. Bare, a student at Granger High School, is a member of the Excaliburs Drill team. She is also on the Granger Honor Roll and has received hors in English and World History. er at last Junior year. Valley High Bare was a Cheerleader and received the Kiwanis International "freedom Leadership Award". In 2001 she was fourth runner-u- p in the Utah National Teen-AgPageant. She has also won second in the 2000 Miss runner-u-p As a ninth-grad- er er Contestants in the pageant will be competing for a variety of scholarships from schools throughout the country. The state winner and runner-u- p will receive a scholarship plus a $1 ,000 savings bond and a trip to compete in the National pageant. . Students receive leadership awards from Lions Club Students from Hunter and Kenney junior high schools were presented with the Hunter Lion's Clubs' annual "Leaders of Tomorrow" awards are recent school assemblies. The awards are made each year by the Lion's Club to a male and female student in seventh, eighth and ninth grades for their scholastic achievement, citizenship, leadership and moral character during the past school year. i 'V. The awards were presented by Hunter Lion's chairman Billie Burke, who congratulated the students on their exemplary records and urged student to remain active in the community. Kennedy Junior High award recipients were Breanna Johnson, Ajay Rivera, Randall Reese, Jillian Rowley, Maegen Esquibel, and Sara Inskeep. Hunter Lion's Club President presented the awards and commended the students for serving as "fine examples for their peers." A large plaque was presented to each school with the names of all past winners engraved on it. Scout leaders chosen for Silver Beaver Six local residents were recently awarded the highest honor in scouting for service. The Silver Beaver award, given to scout leaders who have dedicated their lives to teach the principles associated with scouting. Awarded the prestigious Silver Beaver award were Linda S. Linder and Randy Senior citizens in Magna are not content to just sitting around the senior center. The lively group will be taking a bus trip to the Hill Air Force Base Museum on June attend.
