Our sense of humor is dimmed by an unnecessary sense of futility and doom. Our confidence is weakened by our lack of faith in the essential goodness of the world and our own abilities to make that goodness dominant in our lives and the lives of our neighbors. We might all pray that twinkle in the that denotes a calm soul and merry heart be restored to us. 4 - A SCANDAL IS SOMETHING be bad to be good. ' ? me. SUMMER ONCE SAID: Give me the money that has been spent in war and I will clothe every man, woman and child in an attire of which kings and queens would be proud. I will build a schoolhouse in every valley over the whole earth. 1 will crown every hillside with s place of worship consecrated to , the gospel of peace. CHARLES I wondered later what the priest says when he stubs his toe on the hall table at night or tops his drive off the tee. One must expect the words of his mouth to be very proper but the unuttered expletives that lie bottled up in his bosom, would if given voice, curl the hair on a billiard ball There are times when I would be glad to hire somebody with greater proficiency and imagination to swear for me if I believed in the use of profanity. It is true that you hear little profanity in these days and none of the colorful forceful use of words that used to grace the ordinary conversation of feven respectable people a few years ' i unwittingly jwise . FROM A recitation of the 23rd Psalm: The Lord is my shepherd, thats all I want WE PRAY IN OUR DISTRESS and our needs; why not pray also in the fullness of our joys and days of abundance? ; THIS IS PERHAPS a good thing. I ARE SHADES OF SWEARING. There is just plain profanity and blasphemy, never in good taste and seldom heard except in the lower and more outspok-- n circles these days. And there are expletives, ejaculations and descriptive phrases used by just men in their honest and mighty anger that have a majesty of their own and fill every hearer with awe and admiration. Americans used to be noted for this colorful expression. Hansen of 2789 South 8500 West, Magna, has found it to be a very profitable hobby. TWO YEARS AGO Mr. Hansen procured a few red worms (about 2 inches long) and planted them as a hobby. Today, he has over 40,000 (estimated) and not only sells them for bait, as aids to better gardens, but also realizes a tidy profit from cans of worm manure. Mr. Hansen received an order last week for 8,000 to retail at a grocery store, and they are now on sale at the Magna Safeway store. AS A HORTICULTURAL help, these worms cannot be surpassed. A few planted in a garden will loosen the ground and they never eat green, growing plants. Their food consists of fertilizer that is H. of to on placed on top of the ground. The worms come to the surface and take the fertilizer underneath. Too, they multiply, until almost anyone can build his own 'worm garden. Each worm lays 7 eggs every 21 days and a hatching period is required. Thus, one can readily see that they rapidly multiply, and from a small start, thousands can be soon available. Eggs are laid by both male and female. ONLY A SMALL portion of the worm manure that is packaged in pint containers, is needed around house or outside plants, and horticulturists strongly recommend this type of fertilizer. At this date, a small hobby started just two 'years ago, is growing beyond Mr. Hansens fondest dreams and he has more orders than he can fill at the present time. 14-d- spaghetti Di::::m set suiiday Throngs are expected to attend the Spaghetti Dinner, sponsored by Our Lady of Lourdes Church in the recreation hall on Sunday, May 15th.
