Named on the committee locally is R. C. Parks. M. J. Greenwood, state salvage chairman, ,who announced names of community chairmen, urged Utahns to cooperate with salvage committees by contributing scrap metals, old rubber articles and old rags. Mr. Greenwood listed three types of salvage which Utah householders are asked to contribute. They are: 1. Scrap metals, including anything made of iron, steel, brass, or lead. 2. Rubber, including old tires and tubes, rubbers, galoshes, hot water bottles, mats or even rubber heels from womout shoes. 3.i Old rags, including castoff clothing, burlap bags, draperies, mattresses, pillows, carpeting or anything which contains wool or cotton. Pointing out that the nation's paper mills and warehouses are filled with waste paper which cannot be moved immediafely, Mr. Greenwood said waste paper is not sought at present. He advised that people save newspapers and magazines, if they have storage space, as collections will be resumed eventually. Mr.-- Greenwood -- said also that tin recovery plants have a sufficient supply, and tin cans are not sought at present He warned that no articles be contributed if replacements will be necessary later.
