Relationships between friends, sex and crime are entirely up to environment and early education. Here is where a parents frank, common sense advice comes In. There are no two natures alike, and I feel that this question is to be answered by common sense advice and proper environment. ITthe sex urge is predominant a man will commit crime. I could write a thousand answers to this question, and none would bring us any nearer to a solution of the problem. The question is as old as time, and the cure will probably be " an eternity fromriow. Does crime pay? I can say yes and no. If you have no conscience and care not for the feelings of others, and are lucky enough to get away with a sufficient amount of money and to escape the penalty for your crime, in the eyes of a great many people crime pays. But if you have a goed will feeling toward your fellow man, and can appreciate ' the value of friendship and have a true love of what is good in life, I would say the crime does not pay. Some of my answers may seem peculiar to you. But I have the ability to look at both sides cf things, and my answers may seem confusing. Am I to be sympathized with, with a week to live and in good health? Myself, I dont think so. Im getting my Just deserts and I'm not kicking. Don't waste time on the convicted criminal, but stop him before he gets that way. How? Here is cne way. Have your stores and theatres buy a plot of land. Build an athletic field on It. Every week have a field meet, the stores and theatres to put up prizes such as boys and girls would need skates, bicycles, a weeks pass to the show. If a child lost this week Instead of hanging around corners and petty stealing, he would be out trying to condition himself so as to be a winner the next week. This could be done with the aid of your chamber of commerce. Im sorry I have to be brief to my answers, but I have a lot of last letters to write and not much time to write them. My most sincere good wishes for your work for youth. Slnoerely, (signed) JOHN W. Whal He Wants I was extremely Interested to talking with Claron Alldredge Monday. Claron had returned the day before from a two-yeL, D. 8. Mission to South Africa and told many interesting experiences and incidents he had while there. After serving hi mission he went on an extensive European tour with his wife, the former Helen Hunter. Claron gave a bit of wise philosophy when he remarked that Hitler has discovered that by having a strong army he can get what he desires without using it." Of Interest to his many frlerids here, was the Information Claron gave of his brother, Layton, esteemed friend of all Layton, Jogether with several other friends, went back to Johanesburg, Africa, the scene of their former missions and started an store, which has grown to a large factory and making these three enterprising young men a nice little fortune Claron said that Layt's biggest ambition was to come back to the United States and especially to Utah to live, so they will travel here next summer, although they do not know whether they can stay definitely this trip or not. After Cl&ron's and Laytons very good luck in Africa which they say is the nearest thing yet to the United States, one would think their advice would be, "Go to Africa, young man. ar a-n- wage-earn-- The Music Guild officers include David Whipple, president; Helen Smith, vice president; Richard Anderson, secretary and Adelbert Hart, sponsor. 300 .
